Fair hotel. The lobby is very small, but the rooms are clean and tidy. The cental staircase could do with a bit of painting, though. The best part is the rooftop bar, and being a Dutchman, I felt at home here. Also the heineken beer and the television, as wel as the great view at the park are refreshing.

I spent the majority of my time in Kenya in a remote village. The Duke of Breeze provided a great place to come back to and recharge, enjoy some wifi, and of course, extra-cold tuskers beers!! The rooftop bar is a great place to grab a drink, some food, and enjoy the breeze and the lovely view of Kisumu. Definitely... More

The Duke of Breeze has by far the best bar in all of Kisumu! It’s on the roof and offers not only great views, but also fun music and welcoming people. With their updated rooms, the Duke offered us a comfortable stay and a fun night. Repainted and with new flooring, the remodeled rooms are modern and very accommodating. We... More

We stayed here as a party of 27 whilst undertaking charity work in local schools. Its very basic at all levels but has a great roof bar and the staff were all friendly and helpful. No problems with mosquitos whatsoever. The rating reflects the price which was very, very reasonable rather than comparing it to more expensive properties

I stay here every couple of months and have always found it to be excellent value for money. It's now even better with newly renovated rooms and on writing this the newly revamped, landmark rooftop bar, was also about to reopen. If like me you prefer a laid back, friendly hotel to a pompous, overpriced, plastic experience this is definitely... More

Stayed two nights 26-28 August 2014. Nothing fancy but the rooms were clean, quiet, well priced. Nice location and no street noise if you get a room in the back. Staff was very pleasant. Rooftop bar a nice touch, could definitely be improved. The breakfast is poor, with whole wheat bread and real coffee it would be greatly improved. I'd... More

Dear Chris, Thanks very much for your review on the rooms and the nice staff. Very much appreciated! We are looking forward to welcome you again For the rooftop: due to the rainy season and outside conditions, the rooftop floor and furniture is suffering quite a bit from the weather gods... Next week we will close the rooftop to redo... More

I stayed here with my friends for two weeks while volunteering in Kisumu. The rooms we stayed in were very big with clean flushing toilets, showers and sinks. A room for 2 people plus breakfast was about £20 for both people. There is security in the hotel and it is very safe. The food in the sports bar was lovely... More

The Duke of Breeze is really a nice and affordable place here in Kisumu. My friend and I were on a business trip and really enjoyed our time there. It's location makes for easy travel around town. My house for the last three months, and just extended with another three !!! I'm in town for business and wanted to start exploring and look for housing from the Duke! As you can read, I did't move out. It's such a wonderful place, and luckily for me also affordable. I can't exactly point out what is keeping me there,... More

It is a very affordable place, but you only get what you par for: not much. We found it an unpleasant, old and shabby place with not so friendly staff. The rooftop bar does not have the atmosphere as shown on the pictures; the pillows were way to dirty to sit on. The rooms are extremely basic with lumpy mattresses... More
