I stayed in Sooper for 3days while on a trip to Kisumu city. The guest house is conveniently located at the heart of the city and this proved to be very helpful to us. Security is good too. You get what you pay for in this place. Actually, you get more than what you pay for since it's such a cheap stay (USD15 per room per night!). My wife and I stayed here three or four times. Once, we left a headlamp behind. A few weeks later, I asked if they had found it. The lady at reception said she would ask the cleaning staff. A few days later I checked back, and they had found it! So we stay there now. Every time.

The complaints about safety (2010) are very outdated. We (five friends, 50+) stayed here this march, and the owner has taken every possible measure to prevent theft.
