Brilliant setting, nice set-up, unique environment. The rooms are very comfortable and natural (no TV), relaxing. If it rains, it is even better as you feel like you are outside (because of the tent) but not getting wet!

When I first came to Kiboko Bay in a tuk-tuk, I thought the driver must be confused - I was going to a resort and we appeared to be driving through a slum. However, once we arrived, I couldn't not have been more surprised. The resort is beautiful, and the tent accommodations are amazing - hearing the hippos graze by... More

The food, ambience and atmosphere in the restaurant are superb! We go here to eat whenever we have a special occasion to celebrate. It isn't the cheapest, but it is money well spent. As for the pool area, it is a little tired and in need of sprucing up. Also, be careful, if you are not a guest of the... More

We stayed at the Kiboko Bay in February for 4 nights, while visiting friends in Kisumu. We were made to feel very welcome by the manager and all the staff - nothing was too much trouble. The tents are on a solid structure and were well sealed (from the mosquitos which unfortunately are quite plentiful by the lake at night!)... More

Spend one day here with my Swedish group after a disappointing night at another hotel in town. This place made the group to be happy again and some went out with boats for a look at the hippos or just relaxing at the pool. Food excellent. Will be back,

Kiboko Bay, aptly named as Kiboko means Hippo, is a wonderful place to relax on a Sunday afternoon. We requent this lakeside resort for lunch after church with friends quite frequently and we really enjoy the setting. Recently, water hyacinth has invaded the bay and has completely blocked any view of the water. This could be really disappointing if you... More

Thank you very much for this encouraging review on our general service and we would also like to update visitors about security concerns after sunset. Crime is generally the consequence of unemployment in any town or city and Kisumu also has a huge population of unemployed youth. We would advise guests to Kiboko Bay to exercise caution as much as... More

We stayed here on the way to Uganda. For a city hotel and restaurant, Kiboko was extremely relaxing, family friendly, well managed and memorable. I only wish that there was more places like this in Kenya.

I have not stayed in the accommodations at Kiboko Bay, just eaten twice in the restaurant. The menu is an interesting blend of Indian-Kenyan-Continental. Both times I have eaten there, we have had a table on the outdoors covered patio overlooking the lake. Lake Victoria at Kisumu is presently, unfortunately, choked with water hyacinth, which forms a vast carpet stretching... More

Stayed at Kiboko Bay between 22-27th Dec with my wife and children. The hotel and their staff were extremely friendly and flexible. The kids loved the tented accommodation & wifey &I loved the fact that its really cozy and spacious. Food was OK, a bit pricey.... The road to the resort is dodgy, in the middle of nowhere.... Thank you very much for your encouraging review, we are sure it will motivate our staff to perform better. We agree with your reference to the condition of the road leading not just to Kiboko Bay Resort but Kisumu's oldest land or watermark, the Dunga fishing pier and regret that the task being enormous for a 10 room resort can... Spent two nights here at the end of a week long business trip in Western Kenya. I booked on the basis of the reviews here. This is a tented facility, and while the tents are far from basic with hot water, showers and flushing toilets, there is a feeling of lack of privacy which comes with any tented facility. In... More
