for sure this is the best hotel we found in Etiopia. Hotel is close to the center and in front of a very good restaurant. Staff is very kindly. Room was the best in Etiopia, not so big but very nice and clean with good bathroom and the shower is hot (ask to the staff!) . The room cost 196... More

The Belegez pension in the middle of Gondar is a nice quiet place to stay. It is near to the city center so that you can walk. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable for the price. Nice guarded parking facilities and friendly staff. In house laundry service.

do not understand why everyone likes this place.. very poor in every way you look at it. it's cheap, but really not worth to stay there. there is a great hotel in gondar named "hotel michael"! new and cheap hotel right in the piazza..! 200 Birr (10$) for the cheapest room and you get hot water in the shower, very... Cheap and at first sight very clean, there are some downsides though: The water is turned off sometimes, so be careful when you want to shower - the hot water was only available at morning, so best use water when it is ready to be sure. That`s okay but unfortunately there were flees too, which bit us all over the... More

We stayed in the Belegez Pension a couple of times and found it to be good. The rooms are basic but clean, however there was a problem with the water and we showered using a bucket of water they provided for us. We are told the problem is the same with all of Gonder so perhaps try to shower in... More

I am shocked from what other people have said about this place. The guide books states that these rooms are 3/4 beds. If people want to use it as a double than for the £6.25 you are paying a night what do you expect. We went for a room each (yes chucking our money away) the rooms are small but... More

Belegez Pension was definitely cheap. We paid 175 birr for a 'double' room. However, the definition 'double room' was stretching it. The room was tiny - we barely had enough room for ourselves and our duffel bags. My friend and I had only booked one room because we thought it really was a double, and found ourselves sharing a tiny... More

Yes - the rooms are disgusting - and SO SMALL!! The bathrooms inoperable - toilet leaks, shower has almost no water Very abrupt & pushy young manager tried to sell us 4WD tours out of town with hugely inflated prices... Lonely Planet guidebook here is very, very wrong! We planned to stay 3 nights - but left after just 1.... More

To be honest, other people have stayed here and not had a problem. And I have to give them props for allowing us to stay here with 3 dogs- that was really nice of them, as most Ethiopians hate and are afraid of dogs. However, as far as service and cleanliness, I give them a C- grade. Our shower was... More
