We stayed here for four nights in July, 2014. It was fantastic! The staff, especially Stella, Prasilla, Ned and Melody, were awesome--very friendly and helpful. We booked two tours--the volcano and a trip to a custom village and both tours were wonderful and well worth the money. The food at the resort was very good and prepared quickly and reasonably... Tanna Lodge is comfortable, relaxed and a great place to stay on Tanna. It's located on an exotic black sand cove. The local-styled bungalows are roomy and private. Meals are home-style but fresh and tasty. The staff were able to help us tailor our activities so that we got to see everything we'd planned (including two visits to the awesome Mt... More

To put some context to this review... Tanna is wild, rugged, basic and beautiful. The roads are unsealed and bumpy, there are cows along the side of the road and not much in the way of road rules. The Tanna Lodge setting is stunning. Tropical gardens, individual bungalows. Our bungalow is pretty, with a king sized bed that is comfortable... More

I have just returned from my stay at Tanna Lodge with my daughter. We were so happy with every aspect of our stay .Fellow travellers we met also spoke highly of the lodge. Our room had a tree shower wow.

Tanna is a beautiful unspoilt tropical island, and Tanna Lodge is an excellent place to stay on Tanna. There are only 15 or so rooms, meaning that you don't feel crowded, and it is set on its own bay with a beach which is both sandy and rocky. When we were there the sea was too rough for swimming. The... More

Tanna Lodge really showed its colours recently when ourselves and several other guest parties were left stranded on Tanna Island for two nights due to an unseasonal storm. Hugh and Stella rose to the occasion in a big way, somehow re-accommodating all guests despite nearly full occupancy, facilitating alternate travel arrangements, and even providing complimentary refreshments and entertainment. Sure there... More

I had a massive room with a view of the beach, although not beachfront, it still worked for me. The configuration of two big beds in my room was a little odd but would work for two people sharing the villa. Relaxation was a part of my stay along with tours to Black Magic Village and Mt Yasur (fireworks anyone)... More

The Beachfront Fure was an experience. Large rooms, right on the beach, outdoor shower. Small resort and the tours on offer filled the days. Tanna Islands roads are an experience in themselves, but the quad bikes tackle them comfortably. The Volcano, waterfall and village tours are well done. One suggestion would be for the bar to stock Tonic or a... More

We spent 3 nights at Tanna Lodge for our honeymoon and were pleasantly surprised upon our arrival. The entire resort was beautifully constructed to blend in with the local environs and the gardens were stunning and complemented the villas. We also loved the outdoor showers that were very private as well as inviting. The location was fantastic with the sound... More

We had a beachside bungalow for 2 nights. Loved the outdoor shower and was amazed that we had hot water... but we did. Fell asleep to the sounds of the crashing waves. Saw an amazing sunset. The food was good and the staff were really friendly. We went on the volcano tour that was a 90 minute bumpy ride away... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On the Island of Tanna, only 35 minutes flying time from Port Vila and a little over one hour flying time from Noumea. Within close proximity to the main town and only 20 minutes drive from the airport. We are established in a very private sheltered bay amongst extensive gardens and lush tropical foliage, on 4 hectares of interestingly contoured land. The site is unique in its topography, including to the rear heavily vegetated cliffs with large scale caves and tunnels, inaccessible other than from the resort. The resort is nestled in a sheltered private bay and fronts directly onto a large area of sand beach enveloped on both sides by interesting rock formations and coral reefs. ... more   less
