It's the personal touch that makes it work. When Josef comes to you in the day and shows you a freshly caught snapper or asks how do you want your tenderloin to be cooked that night, that's pretty awesome. Or when Renata found me another pair of shorts because all my clothes were in the wash or personally called Real... More

What a wonderful place this is hidden away on a small island off Vava’u in the islands of Tonga. We were greeted like old friends and pampered all the time we were there. Our beach side fale (bungalow) was bright and clean and just a few steps down to the beach which was swept every day to remove unwanted seaweed.... More

One of the best holidays I have ever had. Made up of a combination of lovely surroundings, amazing beach (15 mins walk by trail) and wonderful hosts in Josef and Renate. Josef's cooking is stunning and he went out of his way to prepare an amazing lobster meal for myself and the family for my 40th. Renate was great with... More

I'm sure it is clear by now that the Reef Resort is absolutely fabulous, but I'll add my two cents anyway. Joseph and Renate are so considerate, sweet and attentive and take care of every little thing. They manage to do this without being stuffy or overly formal, so the whole feeling is warm and homey. I felt perfectly comfortable... More

This place is fantastic. You will never have better hosts or better food. You are crazy if you consider staying elsewhere. I stayed here whilst on a whaleswim tour. Josef food was amazing - especially the seafood. You will leave this place feeling very relaxed and spoilt. The resort is also based on a beautiful reef, which is excellent for... More

We came to Tonga to swim with whales and discovered a hidden gem, Reef Resort. We absolutely loved everything about this Resort! Josef and Renate took care of all our needs. Our fale was beautiful with fabulous views, a spacious bathroom and mosquitoes were not a problem. And.... the food was to die for! Absolutely the Best lobster we ever... More

My husband and I came to stay at The Reef for six nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. Josef and Renate run a wonderful small intimate resort nestled on the edge of an aquamarine bay. The weather was pretty awful but we were so well looked after that we didn't care! These two ultra professionals... More

In fact, there is hardly anything to add to the reviews of the other guests. It's simply great there. If you are looking for a quiet place with a top standard accommodation (not to forget, it's located on a remote island!) and great food, than this is the right place to stay! If you miss bars and permanent internet access,... More

Josef and Renate are truly perfect hosts. From their greeting your arrival at the wharf through to making sure everything is perfect for your stay. The resort is nicely appointed with comfortable fales that are clean and modern. Reef Resort will not disappoint. It doesn't have as nicer beach on its doorstep compared to other beach resorts but the snorkelling... More
