Having changed hands about 6 months ago, I can confirm that the new owners Josef and Renate are fantastic! We were there for about 4 nights - and with November being the off season we were the only guests there! The owners were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The... More

We had the pleasure of seven days at this beautifully and relaxing resort. 'Resort' perhaps conjures up something that may make one think 'large and commercial'. This is definitely not the case. It is a small place with just four separate fales, so a max of about eight guests. It is a tropical paradise where we were treated like guests... More

The hospitality of Renata and Josef is beyond this world. I don’t think in all my years of travel that I have ever been so well looked after and made to feel so comfortable. Right from being met when we arrived at the dock until 7 days later when we were farewelled again at the dock. We arrived at Reef... More

Spent 10 nights for relaxation and wildlife photography in Vavu'a in September 2011. Tonga is world-renowned for underwater humpback whale encounters. Bottom line, the Reef Resort was the most enjoyable remote resort we have ever stayed in. The managers, Josef and Renate, are absolutely fantastic -- the best we have encountered in 20 years of travel. They genuinely wish for... More

We stayed for 4 nights in August 2011. This place is extraordinary. The new hosts are very helpful and the food is absolutely world class, a real treat in the pacific. It's very private with only 4 fales. Snorkeling is fantastic, and if it's windy at Reef, walk 15 minutes to Port Maurelle on the other side of the island... More

In our 35 trips, this is the first time we stopped to provide a resort review. We would like it known that we were so impressed and thankful to our Reef Resort hosts Joseph & Renata. From the moment they greated us from the wharf, to the perfect stay in Fala 3 (Bungalow 3), to the flowers that adorned the... More

Spent 4 wonderful days here with Joseph and Renata. From the moment we stepped on to the private jetty until our reluctant departure it was first class. The food was amazing - fresh seafood and imaginative desserts to die for !!! The Fale's were extremelly well appointed , comfortable, spacious and private... not to mention the beach location and views.... More

Even though we arrived right on the cusp of Tim and Teresa's departure, and Renata and Josef's arrival, you would never have known as the service levels never changed. Literally nothing was too much trouble. The food was fantastic, with Josef in charge in the kitchen and Renata running the front of house. No menu, but not a worry. They... More

We stayed only 2 nights. Place has just been taken over by Joseph and Renata. Fabulous location and very private. Great friendly attitude and nothing too much trouble. Food was excellent. A few problems with the generator did not interfere significantly with our enjoyment. More
