Centrally located just overlooking the market on the main street. This is a good basic and cheap place to stay. You can stay in the main building or there is a little annexe in the garden down some stairs. The rooms are basic, a fan, bunk beds, posters of whales and that it. Staff were really helpful with organising Whale... More

I stayed at backpackers for 4 weeks with my friend whilst we were in Tonga and thought it was a very good hostel. The staff were friendly and even tried patiently to teach me a few words of Tongan! Me and my friend shared a twin room, which was always kept clean and pleasant. It also had a small balcony... More

We stayed here for 7 days on two separate occasions. The dorm is pretty awful and not worth 33 pa'anga a night. The beds were quite uncomfortable, the sheets obviously hadn't been washed since the previous guest (long dark hair all over them, especially the pillow end) and the security guard wakes everyone up at 5am throwing up. I have... More

This place is OK. There is nothing special about it. One of the few places to stay downtown in Vava'u and does offer a clean bed and a kitchen for free. The staff is friendly. The hostel overlooks the market with a balcony and they organize whale watching and other activities if you wish. The price is a little high... More

I was hoping black holes like this had died in the 70s. cockroaches, dirty bedding, dirty showers, dirty kitchen. See the photo of the bed stain and what a rip off price. Unfortunately for me the ferry was late arriving so I had no time to find anywhere else. You would be better off sleeping on the wharf. Staff were... More

Hi I stayed here for four nights - booked for me as I was working in Vava'u. The place was well equipped and situated but TOP$89 a night was expensive for no hot water on some days, no internet as advertised and there are bed bugs. Staff were friendly. EVJD.

We stayed at Adventure Backpackers on 2 occasions for a total of 6 days overall in a double room with a balcony. The room was really bright which was fantastic and was very clean and had a fan on the ceiling which kept you plenty cool at night time. Our room didn’t have en-suite but we were right next to... The lodge is basic, clean and friendly. No luxury, but very central in the town. We had a room with our own bathroom, with hot water, even though the common bathrooms only had cold water. Good common kitchen area and balcony, and OK common room (although the DVD collection is quite sad). The staff is very helpful and service minded.... More

I stayed here for about 6 nights and it makes a good base if your are out all day and want to save money. its close to the market which is good for some fruit for breakfast or a cheap local fish plate for lunch. the staff at the hostel were rude and lazy - you should feel honoured if... More

Ended up staying at Adventure Backpackers for a week in July. I have to say we aren't normally backpackers but our other accommodation ended up having bugs in the bed and was so noisy we couldn't sleep so we moved into town. It is hard to find mid range accommodation on Vava'u but we had the room with ensuite and... More
