If you have the right expectations, this is a fantastic place. It is actually ‘in’ the jungle, as distinct from in the pleasant but basically nondescript town of Leticia. You can certainly arrange jungle tours in and from Leticia, but we wanted the experience of going to sleep and waking up in the middle of it all, so we chose... More

My husband and I visited in late June, if you are looking for air conditioning or a bug free visit, don't go to the Amazon. But, if you are looking for an experience you will never forget, Omshanty provides excellent accommodations on the edge of the Amazon in Colombia. Away from the bustle of Leticia the small cabanas are comfortable,... More

I lived in the same community as Omshanty for about 5 weeks and met Enrique the owner one day and subsequently visited him and some of his guests many times after. Every time I went there, it felt like discovering a hidden paradise. Enrique invests a lot of time and energy into this business with, I believe, the guests positive... More

I was surprised by the standard at Omshanty though after reading all of the positive reviews. Perhaps it was only our bungalow but our bungalow was very run down, there was a ripped framed picture hanging in the kitchen, the bathroom sink was mouldy, the mosquito nets on the windows had holes in them, the floor boards were bouncy and... This is is a one of a kind experience: the brainchild of a Spanish biologist, who seeks to offer his guests an authentic experience. Set on 2 hectares in the middle of pure Amazon jungle, it's also right next to an indigenous community, where you'll find restaurants, stores, and hand-crafted artisan goods. The cabins are clean and comfortable, and very... More

We stayed in Omshanty for just over 1 week and we did the 5 day jungle excursion. Everything was planned so perfectly and went smooth. We had a translator during our 5 day excursion and Carlos followed us everywhere we went and was always there to help, he was like a second guide and everything including food and coffee was... More

I spent one night there and although it is not for everyone, I enjoyed my stay there. It is easy to access it. Avoid the taxi which can be expensive. The buses are very regular and cheap. The place is muddy because it rains every day but it is very well kept. The owner is helpful and friendly and offers... More

Omshanty is the ideal place for any traveler. The lodges are safe, clean, and comfortable. My short stay last October was so enjoyable that I returned to Omshanty in May 2013 and stayed 5 weeks. With a kitchen and refrigerator provided, one can spend many days relaxing or working on a computer while in this wonderful jungle atmosphere. Both of... More

To stay at/with Omshanty will be one of the best decisions you can make when traveling in the Amazonas. (It definitely was ours in March, anyway.) You stay in cabanas right on the edge of the jungle. Take a municipal bus from Leticia heading north the road to Tarapacá and get off at the terminal stop “Km 11” (yes, it... More

Really wonderful place, very peaceful in a beautiful jungle setting, with an amazingly beautiful river walking distance away. It´s much better than staying in Leticia, much more peaceful and beautiful and you can eat and buy basic things across the road. You can see all kinds of animals just outside the cabin, insects, birds and enormous butterflies! The mozzies aren´t... More
