I had a wonderful time in Mahatu! The hostal is just perfect, quiet, in the middle of the nature, cheap price, you feel like home (and trust me I have been backpacking for more than one year), it is hard to leave! The dorm is very charming (all made in wood!), comfortable and clean. There is a pool, a hammock... More

Mahatu is probably the most vivid, authentic hostel I've stayed at. There isn't a contrived bone in the place like most hostels that try too hard, you don't have to be a college kid to feel at home, prices are beyond fair, and unlike 95 percent of hostel pools, this one is maintained. The place sits as close to the... More

The hotel its ok, however the manager is pretty bad at dealing with costumers he has zero hospitality education whatsoever, theferefore his service is bad. THE premises are more or less. I highly recommend To check for other places in Leticia You wuould be surprised by u can actually find

We stayed 11 days around Leticia and found that Mahatu was the best base for exploring the area. It's on the quiet side of the town just across the border from Brazil, surrounded by trees and wildlife. Surprisingly, there aren`t very many mosquitoes though! The owner has many interesting stories to tell and always provides honest opinions about the things... More

GUstavo handles his place with care. The efforts can be seen when you stay here. I loved the hamacas, the swimming pool, the atmosphere and the lake. The beds are not 4 stars one has you can read in some guides, but for me for the price it was more than ok. He his very welcoming and really speaks a... More

I don't like giving bad reviews... But I didn't really like this guest house, and there are much better places to stay at in Leticia. My friend and I stayed in a private double room with ensuite bathroom. It was dirty, the sheets had holes in them, and the bathroom was covered in grime (and decorated with the previous guest's... After our 6 days boat trip from Manaus, we unexpectedly found the Mahatu hostel. Located a few blocks from downtown ( a huge plus as no noise except birds!), this backpackers hotel is a small oasis : a pound, swimming pool, hammocks...and delightful owner. He was really friendly and recommended a really serious and professional (and licensed!) guide for a... More

y boyfriend and I stayed in the dorms at Mahatu, (as the private rooms were extortionately priced at 70,000 pesos, the most we'd seen in 5 weeks in Colombia for a hostel), and paid 25,000 each a night without breakfast. Making the reservation itself was difficult as the owner took hours to respond to emails and in the end didn't... More

We arrived really late and Gustavo the manager was so nice, he made us feel at home with no hassle. The room we stayed in was cool, like a tree house with decent beds and good ventilation. A great place to relax and feel with nature and a bonus is that town is only a 10 minute walk. I would... More

Lovely setting of a hostel and a short walk from town and frontier making a nice stop in Leticia if you don't want to stay in town. What's let's this place down is the management...emailed 3 times prior to arrival with no response. Upon arrival at hostel had got reservations all wrong and nearly sent me away before offering 2...
