This hotel posts pictures that makes it look luxurious and deluxe, both the rooms and the dining room. They also talk on their website about feng shui, the fountains, the music. But they just don't make it. Yes, there's new age music playing softly inside, but outside the workers are listening to loud radio. Yes there are fountains, but only... More

We stayed in Uyuni for two nights. The first night, we were at the Palacio de Sal. However, since they had a large group coming in the second night we were there, we had to move to the Cristal Samana. You can see my review of the Palacio de Sal and compare it to this one if you're trying to... More

Currently hotel extensions under construction thus view and surroundings been loaded with construction items. Room was pretty but cold. Heater was been given on demand. Not enough space to place items - especially in the bathroom. Breakfast very poor. No fresh fruits. Some cheese. Instant coffee. Would expect a bit more. Service been helpful.

Formerly Hotel de Sal have now changed name. The concept is the same. Interesting and charming to live in between salt walls and floor by visting this lovely area. Big constructions in the area means a lot of garbage and mud around the hotel. We missed a descent outwards seating area, but imagine that this will be on place when... More

They gave us a room in the "new" section of the hotel which is still under construction. Since there are no phones you have to walk a long way back to reception. First we noticed there was no soap or shampoo. When staff arrived noone bothered to check what else was missing. We later noticed that there was no toilet... More

Check in was ok. Water was cut off from the bathroom without warning and we weren't informed during check-in that water would be cut off either. We got a shock when water was cut off in the middle of bathing (and it was winter! imagine wet, cold and freezing in the bath stall). After 10 pm, all lights in the... More

We were looking forward to staying in a hotle "made out of salt" at the edge of the Salar de Uyuni. It was indeed a very interesting structure made to look like a winter scene with polar bears carved out of salt in the interior, which we found very strange as polar bears do not exist in that area of... Having stayed in hotels all over the world, regretably our recent stay at this hotel was amongst our worst experiences ever. The hotel was booked for us as part of a 3 day Salar trip organised by Ruta Verde. On arrival at 4pm we were met with a grim faced woman with a terrible hacking cough who grimaced at us... More

Where to start? We booked to stay here as a treat as we were backpacking and fancied a bit of luxury. The rooms were beautiful and clean and the layout of the place is amazing. The breakfasts are great. But that's where it ends. We paid extra to have meals included but on the first night we were given toast... More

At the edge of the Salar de Uyuni sits an incredible salt block structure. We had no idea we were about to pass through the entrance doors into a "winter" wonderland. The floors are covered in salt crystals and the furniture is made from salt blocks including the bed bases. We visited in December and the interior was filled with... More
