Jao Camp was our first camp with Wilderness and we were treated very well. The genuine welcome not only on the first day but on arrival from every drive or boat was amazing. We were welcomed by both management and all the general staff. A special thanks to William and Angie who even showed us the bats emerge from the... More

The staff did everything to ensure we had a wonderful stay in this fabulous camp. We experienced both land and water based safari with very knowledgable guides. The lodge is constructed in beautiful highly polished wood and sits on stilts to ensure wonderful vistas. The room we had was Balinese style tented accommodation with a thatched roof. It was open... I have visited many really nice lodges in Africa and especially in Botswana so I was really surprised to find this paradise in the middle of Okavango delta. Each "tent" consisted of lounge, bedroom, bathroom, inside and outside showers both huge terasse. Also restaurant was very nice, food good and the staff was really helpful. I enjoyed also the spa... Soooo happy we did not go to Abu (sure it's great, but having Internet would of changed the experience) Rooms (lounge, bedroom, 2 showers, a bath, big private terasse and a relaxing area outside) are great at night.... Loved hearing the animals around us! Food was very good and the cook always trys to do the impossible for you. The... More

Jao camp remains at the top of my list of the most amazing places I've ever stayed. The tented rooms are luxuriously decorated in Baliese style. The food was wonderful. The wild life is very good, especially for bird sightings. The safari jeeps can go through deep waters--almost like a boat (but not). The property grounds are spectacular from the... More

We stayed at Jao for 2 nights in June 2012. The mangement of Jao seem to have their own agenda with the camp and have let the standards of this camp drop considerably! Despite the large sum of money you spend to stay here, and experience the serenity and magic of the bushveld, the management allowed raucous, loud parties with... More

One of the best experiences of my life - I have fallen completely in love with Jao. My husband and I have just returned from 3 nights at Jao Camp, in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. Words alone cannot describe how incredible our experience was, and how we absolutely had one of the best trips we've ever had. We are very... More

This was our final stop on a four property safari tour. Went to Jao because of its reputation as being one of the best water based safari camps and to a large extent Jao delivered. The proximity to a beautiful and extensive wetlands provided very good water based game viewing especially hippo, croc, and elephant. Also really excellent bird viewing... More

What a terrific camp! There were 10 of us travelling together, and we all loved our time at Jao. The boat safari was a huge highlight, seeing so many elephants and Hippopotamus. The rooms were outstanding and we enjoyed the food. We stayed at Jacks camp and Mombo as well and really enjoyed the contrast between the three camps. Our... More
