Located in a great area, rooms are ok, although there was a leak in a pipe from the bathroom and some water was always present on the floor. The view is great and the guamanchi staff are friendly. If one plans to take tours with them, this is the best place to stay in Merida for a reasonable price

After making our way to beatiful Angel Falls and an interesting adventure through Caracas, which I wish to not elaborate, I must finally say that Posada Guamanchi was a great break from the hustle and bustle of the everything. The facilities were clean and well maintained, the staff were excellent and the entire stay in Merida was made perfect because... More

The rooms were nice and carlos seemed very nice, we agreed on a tour which was already overpriced but sounded good. Then the next morning he suddenly changed the price +60 dollars so we declined... he started shouting and said we had to leave immediatly(some angermanagment problems. So we went next doors to Yagrumo, were we were welcomed with great... More

This posada is run by the travel agency of the same name (a great place to book an excursion to Los Nevados). 300BsF for a room ($50 at the official x-rate, or $10 at the current dolar paralelo rate) that is no frills ok. No restaurant or breakfast, but is located right across from some good ones. Walking distance to... More

We stayed for a few nights at Guamanchi and went on excursions with them. The owner is really helpful and speaks good English although not all of the staff do, in any case they are all very friendly and look after you well. The hostel itself is rather quirky with lots of hammocks to relax in and a nice rooftop... More

It's not the cheapest hostel, but the place is very clean and the staff is very friendly and will help you plan some really fun day/weekend trips to the surrounding areas. They have some very nice common areas and have wifi throughout the building. Breakfast is not included but kitchen is accommodating. The hostel is also in a perfect location,... More

I did want to write a review immediately after my departure one month ago. Now I am in Colombia and have been to 8-10 hostels in this country. Guamnachi is still the best posada I have encountered during my travel in South America. Friendly and helpful staff. One note: The TV room could have been arranged in a more comfy... More

Guamanchi is a beautiful place but not really a guesthouse. They only want people doing their tours to stay there which was not made completely clear on our arrival at night time. We were told that the price of the room is dependant on the tour booked however other agencies do the same tours for better prices. We booked a... More

We were offered a double room with private bathroom on the 3rd floor for 250 Bolivar which isn't as cheap as other hostels but the view from the room was incredible. We also had a hammock just outside our door and you can just sit, relax and enjoy the view of Merida's mountains. It's not totally far from the centre... More

Very bad time at the Posada. Its loud, dirty and anoying. Breakfast was also very poor and we had many times no electricity because of break downs in the house. RICARDO TORRES, the owner, made direct after our arrival pressure to book a tour and told us that we have to make a tour booking, otherwise we cant stay there.... More
