This little heaven away from everything is one of our all time favorite places to stay. It was so peaceful and pleasant, everybody was so nice, and it was 10-feet from the trailhead for our daily hikes. There food was excellent, the beds super comfy, and they picked us up from the bus station. Loved it!!

Stayed at El Pilar for a week the second week of November 2014 and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff were all very friendly, spoke good English and were very helpful with trekking information. It's located right in Los Glacieres national park. Breakfast at El Pilar is served buffet style and includes coffee, teas, cereals with yogurt in a pitcher... More

Cozy. Friendly. Great (quiet) location. Friendly staff. Reasonable rates. What more can you ask for? We spent Christmas here and felt lucky. Thomas was laid back, played great music, and mixed a nice cocktail.

If you're staying in El Chalten on more than a backpacking budget, this is where you want to stay. You'll drive down a dirt road out of town for about 15 minutes or so and arrive at a beautiful alpine home surrounded by nothing but beauty. Gigantic mountains, the stunning Mt. Fitz Roy starting at you out the window, and... More

About 17 kms beyond Chalten on an unsealed road, the location of this hotel is spectacular. The walking trails are right at the front door where there of views of the Fitz Roy range. Inside it has a really cosy feel both in the common areas and in our room. The service is laid back which most of the time... More

(driving on a rocky road for 17 km), what you find is a magical place to spend few days while you do some hiking in the area. I never thought I'll fall in love with a mountain, but I guess Fitz Roy does it to you time and again. We were extremely lucky with the weather, so we picked and... More

We spent a night in El Pilar and hiked back to el Chalten. The hotel arranged for the transport of our luggage. The hotel is at the starting point of where many trekkers take a shuttle to start their trek back to town. Staying at the hotel enables you to get an early start. The views from the hotel are... Everything about this place is special. Surely the highlight must the setting; it is magnificent at the base of Mount Fitz Roy. But then there's the food... Our room was tasteful and warm and comfortable, the staff super friendly and efficient and the food...

Rooms are gorgeous as is the setting. Really nice staff, especially Sebastian who helped put with lifts into town. This place is lovely but it IS a long way from town. No wii-fi - not a problem unless you HAVE to stay connected to the world! It is at trail head for some lovely walks.

My husband and I were looking for a place in Patagonia to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Our plan was to find a place IN the mountains, close to a lake or stream, away from civilization. 'Hostería El Pilar' has everything we were looking for: excellent location, fantastic view of the Fitz Roy, very friendly staff, simple and cozy rooms,... More
