Stayed here one night because my camera batteries were dying and needed electricity. This ended up being one of the better placed I stayed in Chalten. Dinner at the restaurant was really good, the staff was very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate me, and the rooms were very nice. It's a bit more money... More

No TV, radios, phones....relaxing and completely off the beaten track. My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and would go back in a heartbeat. It's a 20-30 minute drive outside of El Chalten and located at the start of the trailhead where many set off to start their trek to Fitz Roy. There are many other hikes you... More

I'm going to break it down by headings the... More

I had an excellent stay at Hosteria El Pilar. Spotless rooms, extremly welcoming and helpful staff, reliable pick up service, really nothing to complain about. Perfect location for honeymooners and nature lovers.

We loved Hosteria El Pilar! Walk out from El Chalten - most people go via the mountain and the national park, but we took the road which mostly follows the river, and it was lovely - either option is an adventure. The river route also meant we got to stop at the quirky and delightful little Bonanza campground (who also... More

Besides the spectacular setting, El Pilar adds value to any trip to El Chalten and the Southern Patagonian Ice-Field by being incredibly warm and comfortable (which is important in a place where even high-summer weather conditions can be pretty harsh). The staff are friendly and knowledgable, the atmosphere is cosy and relaxing, the rooms are very affordable given the high-season... More

We had such a wonderful stay at El Pilar for 3 nights, surrounded by amazing and peaceful scenery. The location is really the highlight since we were literally in the mountains next to the beautiful Rio Blanco. The hosteria is Eco-friendly since all the power comes from a hydro-generator. Our room #5 was large and quiet, with a luxurious bathroom... More

We only had 2 nights, so 1 full day to trek, and were given excellent advice by the staff on whatthebest options for us were to get the most out of the time we had there. As mentioned in other reviews they are located outside of town on the start of the hike route for Los tres! We hiked to... More

El Pilar is an adorable and peaceful B&B, with large, clean rooms and multiple common areas with fireplaces that are perfect for reading. There is no wifi or computer access, so it's a wonderful retreat from 'civilization'. The staff are super friendly and keen to make your stay wonderful. It's also right on a hiking path so you can start... More
