There are plenty of nice hotels, some of them even in beautiful places. But a few of them have a soul. Aguas Arriba has it all: it's an amazing structure, nested in a magic place, with a lot of warmth and character. Every person working there is special and will make you feel the most welcome guest. If you are... More

Aguas Arriba Lodge was recommended to me by Steppes Travel; my brief to the agency was to see the mountains, do some trekking and fly fishing. Not knowing what to expect I was pleasantly surprised. From the moment of catching the boat to the Lodge to saying farewell to the owners, Ivor and Pato, and Clara, the resident guide, and... More

This lodge is truly in the middle of nowhere. There is hot water in a small window in the morning, and again in the evening. Light and electricity is out at 11pm. Although internet is advertised, note it is not wireless, nor dependable, and there is no cell reception (bliss). Food was very basic - we were served a basic... More

Stayed here for two nights at the start of November and wished we could've stayed for longer. This tiny boutique hotel is actually far more like staying at someone's lakeside home than it is a hotel - boots and poles are left at the front door, you can leave things in the communal lounge areas and no one will take... My family and I were nothing short of blessed to have been able to stay here. Our gorgeous hosts Pato and Ivor have truly poured their heart and soul into this lodge, creating a place of warmth, delicious food and great company. It is more of a home than a hotel, and we were welcomed with open arms. The landscape... More

Me and my family had a wonderful time Hiking and relaxing during new years. The view is just amazing and the hiking with Clara to the most virgin forests and glaciars were out of this world. This is a place that We will never forget! As good as it gets! Thanks for a lovley stay !

It feels more like you are staying in a beautiful private home than a hotel. Pato and Ivor have built an incredible place with a lot of work. Everything is brought in by boat and Ivor said it took over 2500 trips to build the lodge over several years. The attention to detail was amazing. Veronica provided very clear directions... More

We had for those two days an horrible weather with wind and a lot of rain , even snow. We only did a little trek ... but The staff here was really more than nice and we spent some marvellous hours with them. Sure we will come back again may be in "summer" , to be sure having better weather... More

An incredible excluded escape. The lodge is truly beautiful - an impressive labour of love. A grande fire place in the living area, and a lovely dining room all looking out across the lake to the mountaintop glaciers. Our hosts, Pato and Veronica, could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. We loved setting out on trails with Pato through... More

We had a wonderful time in a special, beautiful place. Great staff, nice owners, wonderful hiking guide, room with a view, and excellent food. I have been to some very nice places to stay, but this was the best. Of course, the spectacular scenery was part of what made it magical.
