Average lodging but one of the few which are open during the Winter months. The hostel is owned by Chalten Travel and is the first stop for the bus, so it's handy in the way that you don't have to wait in the open till the bus arrives. It's also located right next to mountain trails so it's quite a... More

I stayed here for 2 nights in an ensuite double room for single use. There are dormitory room for 4 people with shared toilet in this hostel as well. This hostel is about 0.75-1 KM (10-15 min walk) from the main bus terminal. The receptionist is cheerful and helpful. My ensuite room was well maintained, clean and tidy. The hostel... More

I'll keep this short and to the point. 1. The showers are disgusting. 2. No towels to rent. Ever. 3. Maids spray sheets with febreeze. Doesn't make me trust the cleanliness at all. 4. The kitchen is filthy and not sanitary in any way. This is a marketing ploy: it is to make you eat at the restaurant in the... More

It is conveniently close to some hiking trails. Staff is hit or miss, you can get very helpful and friendly people at the reception or you can get those that don't have any interest in helping. Kitchen is just ok. Rooms have big lockers, are cleaned every day and have good ventilation. Has a nice social area that makes easy... More

Rancho Grande is a very recommendable hostel in El Chaltén as it helps you organize your travels, is warm, clean and specious and accepts Visa (which is quite rare as I found in El Chaltén). All rooms and bathrooms are very clean and there are two kitchens to prepare your meals in. As it offers room for many backpackers and... More

I was in many hostels during my long trip to South Ameirca but this one is average. The prices in the hostel are pretty high in compare to what it offers you and in compare to other hostels around Argentina. Me and my boyfriend slept in a dorm room of 4 people with shared bathroom. the room, itself was ok,... More

The place is pretty run down. No lockers while hiking. All little things are broken. I have been taking showers there, never could get a towel. Kitchens are unfriendly and deserted. No breakfast. Rooms smell. On the plus side English speaking staff, nice common area and 7x24 restaurant. Better option is to camp and use showers at the hostel.

We stayed at this hostel for 2 nights before trekking through the area. The hostel is big and has a very good restaurant, also the staff ist very friendly and helpful! The breakfast ist ok. The rooms are clean but not very big, the bed comfortable. It was great we could leave our stuff there for free during our 5-days... More

This hostel is quite nice and the staff is also helpfull. Its main drawback is that even though the city is small, it still takes some minutes to get to the hostel by foot, which can be rather bad if you are already tired of so many treks. The hostel also offers a restaurant with good food a nice prices.

This is quiet a large but clean hostel. The double rooms are nice, also the four bed dorm (stayed 1 night in dorm until double room was available). Breakfast is average but was not included in the price of the room. Good location to start hikes from and supermarket is near by. Only problem we had was that the kitchen... More
