The place is pretty run down. No lockers while hiking. All little things are broken. I have been taking showers there, never could get a towel. Kitchens are unfriendly and deserted. No breakfast. Rooms smell. On the plus side English speaking staff, nice common area and 7x24 restaurant. Better option is to camp and use showers at the hostel.

We stayed at this hostel for 2 nights before trekking through the area. The hostel is big and has a very good restaurant, also the staff ist very friendly and helpful! The breakfast ist ok. The rooms are clean but not very big, the bed comfortable. It was great we could leave our stuff there for free during our 5-days... More

This hostel is quite nice and the staff is also helpfull. Its main drawback is that even though the city is small, it still takes some minutes to get to the hostel by foot, which can be rather bad if you are already tired of so many treks. The hostel also offers a restaurant with good food a nice prices.

This is quiet a large but clean hostel. The double rooms are nice, also the four bed dorm (stayed 1 night in dorm until double room was available). Breakfast is average but was not included in the price of the room. Good location to start hikes from and supermarket is near by. Only problem we had was that the kitchen... More

Rancho Grande has a nice open living/dining room where always lots of people are hanging around. We stayed in a double room, which was pretty comfortable. Downsides were the old bathroom which really needs to be renovated and the noise level from both the public area and outside. Every now and then a big touring car of Chalten travel stops... More

Whenever I walked into ranch grande they're where people around enjoying food or each other's company. It has all of the amenities that a hostel should have plus a wonderful environment. Seemed like a younger crowd place. Also the chalten travel company buses leave from right outside the hostel making it very convenient

I was hesitant to book this place upon reading reviews that referred to it as a backpackers "factory". I only booked a night to see how it would go, and ended up extending my stay for 4 nights. This place really exceeded my expectations. Great, social, open atmosphere allows you to mingle and exchange stories and tips with other travelers.... More

This hostel is located at the foot of the mountains and a great place to start your hike. Especially when you bump into Cecilia (she is at the common area most of the time) who provides great advice about your trips of the day. We had little time but she advised us to get the most out of our day,... More

Overall a pleasant stay but I wouldn't say I was overjoyed either. The main lobby which is also a restaurant looks great but it's generally mobbed by an electic mix of noisy people. The restaurant food is reasonably priced and the pizza we ordered ($110AR) was large and delicious. There's a big St.Bernard loping around which was cool. The private... More

Well located, close to the entrance to the Fitz Roy trekking path, offering everything we needed plus assistance from friendly staff. Me and my boyfriend stayed there during our trip to the south and had a great time. The food is also great, totally recommend their "guiso de lentejas" (Lentil Stew). Great value for the money we paid!
