The hotel was lovely. We had booked the small double and it plenty big enough. The gardens, views and service were good. There were good choices at breakfast and plenty of coffee. We were a bit disappointed with the food in the evening. The menu was fussy and not good for vegetarians.

We were looking for a nice place to have afternoon tea, and through a random google search heard about Gliffaes. The location overlooking the Usk is stunning (and the grounds are well worth a good explore). The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Having an afternoon tea buffet was a new but rather welcome experience. It was very helpful that... More

Having heard only good things about Gliffaes I was very much looking forward to an evening of good food in a beautiful quiet spot. I was not disappointed. When we arrived we were welcomed warmly and shown to the bar where we ordered champagne which we drank outside overlooking the calm of the Usk. Having chosen our meals we were... More

We loved Gliffaes. It's not pretentious, it's not luxurious it's honest and elegant. Beautifully run family with a country warmth and unbelievable views from the hotel in to the national park and back. Comfortable delicately kept rooms and traditional bar and quality food. Small and boutique and honest. We loved it.

Surely, what one hopes to find in a place like Gliffaes are the signs of a well loved family home into which one is welcomed as if one were a family guest? The scuffs and the patination of time on furnishings and fabrics - albeit there are a few - are signs of contented living and an 'easy' ambience -... More

We've stayed several times, most recently a family lunch for 10 of us for my birthday. I couldn't have been more thrilled to discover we were going to The Gliffaes .... but I'm now noticing flaws and irritations after the wonderment of the beautiful grounds and fabulous views have worn off. Paintwork here and there chipped; what were once gorgeous... More

This is the second time we have stayed at the Gliffaes. Set in beautiful woodland and well away from the madding crowd, this is a super place to stay if you are willing to pay ,at least, twice as much as the average pub or B and B in Crickhowell. It is well worth it. Quinessentially British and family-owned. We... More

This must have been our 5th visit to Gliffaes with a large double room overlooking the river Usk with 34 acres of riverside grounds to enjoy. Everything remains at a very high standard and the staff are as lovely as always - nothing too much trouble. One quibble this time was that the dinner menu remained the same for three... More

Best fishing hotel I've been to. Arrived on Friday to find the patio being reorganised by ladies that lunch, but that was the low point. Room was good. Views exquisite. Restaurant excellent.staff friendly and efficient. But the high point were the two days fishing accompanied by Ghillie Jimmy Devoy. Knew everyone, was full of stories AND knew where the fish... We have had the good fortune to visit Gliffaes on several occasions. It stands majestically in the heart of Monmouthshire on the River Usk. The extensive grounds are beautifully landscaped and the house itself has been maintained to a high standard. Staff are courteous and professsional. We had one of the two rooms with a balcony and the views are... More
