We hadn't been to Gliffaes for nearly 20 years; but when we went today we were welcomed by the same lovely building, gorgeous grounds and simply stunning views. The staff were welcoming and friendly from start to finish. They were very willing to help when getting different teas etc. We went for afternoon tea in the conservatory with the most... More

We were lucky enough to be invited to a wedding here and it was so extraordinary, we are already figuring out an excuse to return. If you are looking for bling, lots of glitzy polish and fawning staff, drive on. This is a beautiful country hotel with charming decor and a warm welcome. The breakfast was historic. The view from... We stayed here recently as a treat for my birthday. Our room was a bit small but adequate but the hotel was busy and when we rang this was the only room left. In areas the hotel is looking a little tired but the hotel is surrounded by the country side and it is a very relaxing beautiful location. Ideal... More

Stayed here on business as the usual hotel was full. The setting is lovely, with gorgeous views, and the postcode worked for my car's satnav, which is handy as the hotel is along a singletrack road. The staff on reception and in the restaurant are friendly, polite and attentive - and not overbearing, which makes for a pleasant time in... More

Gliffaes is an impressive, memorable, country hotel located on the River Usk west of Crickhowell (Powys) in the Brecon Beacons. The hotel’s family-owned, Italianate in architecture, 23 rooms, with old-fashioned luxury interior decoration. When we were there the majority of guests were couples, several there for fly-fishing. The staff were friendly. It’s the wonderful context, a villa high on a... More

The hotel was lovely. We had booked the small double and it plenty big enough. The gardens, views and service were good. There were good choices at breakfast and plenty of coffee. We were a bit disappointed with the food in the evening. The menu was fussy and not good for vegetarians.

We were looking for a nice place to have afternoon tea, and through a random google search heard about Gliffaes. The location overlooking the Usk is stunning (and the grounds are well worth a good explore). The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Having an afternoon tea buffet was a new but rather welcome experience. It was very helpful that... More

Having heard only good things about Gliffaes I was very much looking forward to an evening of good food in a beautiful quiet spot. I was not disappointed. When we arrived we were welcomed warmly and shown to the bar where we ordered champagne which we drank outside overlooking the calm of the Usk. Having chosen our meals we were... More

We loved Gliffaes. It's not pretentious, it's not luxurious it's honest and elegant. Beautifully run family with a country warmth and unbelievable views from the hotel in to the national park and back. Comfortable delicately kept rooms and traditional bar and quality food. Small and boutique and honest. We loved it.
