What a lovely place to spend a couple of hours with friends enjoying a sumptuous afternoon tea. We loved the comfortable Country House setting with its relaxed atmosphere and a roaring fire in the lounge. Too cold for tea in the conservatory today, but we have noted that it would good to make a return visit when it's warmer to... More

The Gliffaes can only be described as a hidden gem. We spent a fantastically relaxed afternoon tea here for my wifes birthday today. We had the drawing room to ourselves. The log fire was especially inviting on a dank dark and misty December afternoon for which the Beacons are famous. Living locally we should visit more often than we do.... More

On a motorcycle trip around the UK I sourced this Hotel for it's location based on other reviews. I was not disappointed. Very comfortable single room with a great bed and bathroom. Superb restaurant with a really good selection of wines. The owner joined the few diners who adjured for a nightcap in the bar for an entertaining friendly conversation... More

We have enjoyed afternoon teas here over many years. This is the first time we have stayed for two nights. The countryside surrounding the hotel is just breathtaking, even more so with the autumn colours reflected in the waters of the river Usk. Our room ( no 16) was well equipped and comfortable. The food excellent, then rounded off by... More

Have stayed at the Gliffaes several times in the past. Not perfect perhaps, but hard to compare with a more commercial, chain hotel. Sure the house is old and a little faded in places but this adds the the charm. Food and service have generally been very good and we've always been made to feel welcome. The grounds have been... We stayed with friends and our daughter for special celebration for our silver wedding. Had a great time. Our room was very comfortable with views of the grounds and river. Staff were charming and very friendly. Dinner was amazing and definitely great for a special treat. Recommend nearby waterfall walk near the reservoir

We only stayed a couple of nights but it was a lovely restful place to be, very comfortable and welcoming, cosy open fires, afternoon tea, and lovely evening meal. Our room was very comfortable with ample room for the cot for our 16 month old, the staff where very helpful with early supper for her as well, (it was part... More

Booked my parents a stay at Gliffaes after they spent a lovely time there 7 years ago, unfortunately it isn't the hotel it used to be. My parents were so shocked at how run down and badly managed the hotel was that they didn't stay a single night. They were offered several rabbit hutch rooms, up numerous flights of stairs,... More

Had a lovely 2 nights here after a friend's recommendation. We stayed in very comfortable room 12 which was a standard double with king size bed. The exterior of the building is somewhat unattractive but step inside and it is luxurious. The gardens are lovely. We loved the dinners and the restaurant. The food was innovative. The crab panna cotta... More
