Stayed for my birthday. Food was amazing and hotel was spotlessly clean. The main complaint was Room 28! There was a function going in each side of our room until the early hours and then the store cupboard next door was used to clear up causing lots of banging keeping us awake. The kitchen is directly below this room also.... More

We were part of a group of 49 for lunch on Sunday 25 January, and we chose to stay overnight on Saturday and Sunday. Thoroughly recommend the hotel, and will remember the generous portion of wonderful rare beef as a highlight of the weekend. The bar can get very busy, especially on a Saturday night - which probably proves it... More

Travelled to Crickhowell for the day and tried the Bear Hotel. It was by far the best food we have had for a long time, with great service to boot. Looks like a great place to stay the night as well. we will be back again for sure, well done. Oh yeah probably the cleanest toilets I've seen in a... More

We've stayed twice at the Bear Hotel now and find it outstandingly friendly and particularly accommodating regarding our dog. It is extremely efficient and we've found service to be excellent even when they are very busy, as they have been on both occasions - both Saturday nights. There were 2 large parties yesterday evening, one at either end of the... More

Have stopped here several times on the way home to Pembrokeshire, always had a good welcome and excellent food. Well priced and imaginative food. Parking could be tricky, but we have always been lucky. Always look forward to staying here, never had a bad experience. Well staffed and and look forward to our next stay.

Lovely old pub, very cosy and welcoming, staff helpful and friendly, good food . We stayed in one of the courtyard rooms, nice and clean , warm. We would recommend it, and would happily stay again . The bear is in a good location for walking , plenty of local walks to choose from.

After hearing such great things about the Bear four of us decided to go for an evening meal on New Year's Day. I called ahead to check if I needed to book a table and was told 'no we are not taking bookings just come and help yourselves'. We arrived at 8 and were told we would have to wait... More

On New Years Day, my partner and I visited The Bear for coffee then lunch. We were told to arrive early as The New Years Day Hunt was on and tables would be at a premium. Well, what a wonderful experience- on both counts- to see the horses and hounds ready for the off and then to enjoy the friendly... More

Went there for overnight stay New Years Eve and 5 course gala dinner. We had parsnip soup, smoked Gressingham duck, roasted partridge and exotic fruits. Followed next morning with a superb full Welsh breakfast, then sausage rolls, minced pies and mulled wine at noon with the local hunt. Top class stay
