I popped into 'The Bear' for a meal one evening with my partner. The staff were completely inattentive, four members of staff walked past me whilst I was waiting to order food without any acknowledgement (I did wonder if I was invisible), the bar/restaurant wasn't busy and there is no excuse for ignorance in my opinion. Once eventually served, the... More

Typical British pub with loads of atmosphere. The hotel rooms have been stylishly refurbished and although there is no airco they are clean bright and airy. Step in shower in the bath is always a minus point, but the shower was good and the towels soft and fluffy. Food in the bar and in the restaurant was very good -... More

We ate at The Bear Hotel, located in the centre of Crickhowell which is a beautiful small town and wished we'd stayed the night. There was so much history and character to take in. The pub was cosy, the staff were very welcoming and the food tasty. It looked very popular with the locals. We'd highly recommend it.

If you enjoy pubs, this is the place for you; otherwise, not. This is the popular eating and drinking spot in Crickhollow, Wales and as a hotel guest you will be overwhelmed by friendly folks having a good time. There is no air conditioning and the rooms are dark and worn.

Ancient and British as you like them. First it is a big pub: cosy decoration, several rooms, lots of customers, good service, lukewarm biers and good food. The small restaurant is quite satisfactory. When the weather is O K rhe small garden is a paradise. Rooms are OK. Every monday, the local choir comes for rehearsal: good music and good... More

We ate at The Bear on the recommendation of our hosts at the B and B on two occasions during our three night stay in Crickhowell. We were not disappointed. The first night we ate out in the beer garden as the weather was quite balmy. Our entree of warm bread with olives and sun dried tomatoes was just ordinary... More

Lovely hotel, nice food and atmospheric bar. Stayed here again recently and stupidly left my phone charger - I contacted the hotel and the charger arrived back with me in 24 hours - excellent service following another delightful stay, very impressed - recommended.

Have eaten in the restaurant a few times at the Bear but this time we ate in the lovely characterful bar area. They do not take bookings and as there is plenty of room you are usually not disappointed. We both had the roast lamb with all the trimmings and both had the apple and whim berry crumble and custard....a... More

My partner and I came for a weekend break and found this hotel very welcoming. The best thing about it though was the food. Simple food made unbelievably tasty. We ate there both nights as it was so good and see why they are so busy in the evening. The room was excellent too very luxurious! My only slight comment... More

We had a meal at the Bear Hotel and found the food and service very good indeed. The hotel is full of atmosphere and has a lot of history. It is very convenient as it is right in the centre of the town.
