I can understand that if you are someone who can sleep in any old bed, this hotel is more than OK; apart from the beds, I would give it 3.5 stars. The mattresses were really limp and soft, and pillows completely shapeless and unsupportive. They had down as well with is not great for someone with allergies and sensitive skin.... More

We just finished a long vacation in England, Belgium, and France. My family of 4 rated this place hands-down the best hotel of our vacation. Our room was actually two rooms, with one containing comfortable cots for the kids and the other a large, queen bed for us. We stayed two nights and had excellent food and service at the... More

Only popped in for a couple of beers after a trek up Table Mountain but well received, good selection of ales and nice place. They also have a great beer garden and car parking. Worth a try if in Crickhowell.

I recently visited the Bear Hotel with my family for a wedding. In total there were 25 of our family staying there, and we were the last to arrive an hour and a half before we had to leave for the ceremony. When we arrived, there was no more parking available and we had to park in a car park... More

Uneven floors, winding hallways, stairs everywhere up and down. Very busy hotel and lots of local pub activity in the large pub facing a busy main street (busy for Wales). Room was clean and adequate decorated in an attic vintage style. Quirky furniture and decorated dark wood. Rooms were dark and there was no air conditioning. Very noisy if you opened... More

We have stayed many times at The Bear, enjoying it each time. Our preference is for the rooms in the main house but the rooms in the courtyard are spacious but don't have as much character as the main building. We always eat there when we stay and the food is wonderful, staff are delightful and always go out of... More

we stayed at the Bear Hotel for 3 nights. At first we got a rather small room at the front but when my wife explaned that we are pretty long people, we got the probably largest room they have, without any extra charge. So that was very good service. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good. There... More

I popped into 'The Bear' for a meal one evening with my partner. The staff were completely inattentive, four members of staff walked past me whilst I was waiting to order food without any acknowledgement (I did wonder if I was invisible), the bar/restaurant wasn't busy and there is no excuse for ignorance in my opinion. Once eventually served, the... More

Typical British pub with loads of atmosphere. The hotel rooms have been stylishly refurbished and although there is no airco they are clean bright and airy. Step in shower in the bath is always a minus point, but the shower was good and the towels soft and fluffy. Food in the bar and in the restaurant was very good -... More

We ate at The Bear Hotel, located in the centre of Crickhowell which is a beautiful small town and wished we'd stayed the night. There was so much history and character to take in. The pub was cosy, the staff were very welcoming and the food tasty. It looked very popular with the locals. We'd highly recommend it.
