We returned to the Bear everyday during our stay in Crickhowell as the food and service was spot on. The biggest bonus was that our dog was treated as good as we were and even had a bowl full of chicken on the house. The Pub/restaurant is full of character and has old school charm. What to say about the... More

The Bear is a friendly old fashioned pub that serves good beer, has good food and a welcoming manner. All staff are charming and helpful. My room was top floor in the main hotel and was warm with plenty of hot water albeit only a shower. Only negatives were that the beds were soft and the plumbing is a little... More

9 of us stayed overnight, rooms were all different. I believe I was in the Garrett (# 5) Small room at the top of the hotel but ok for one. The disappointment was the lamb rack which was raw. I normally have mine M/R pink but this was just not cooked and as a result, tough. Similar for all 5... More

Excellent location right in the centre of the high street close to all the shops and coffee bars. Lovely clean and organised hotel with old world charm. Value for money and good restaurant on sight. Bar area welcoming and quaint. Staff informative and helpful.

Stayed overnight on 30th October. Had a bed and breakfast deal from Booking.com. We booked a standard room so didn't expect to be in such a lovely room. It was in the annexe - room 30. Beautifully decorated and the bathroom looked new. Everything was spotlessly clean. We reserved a room in the restaurant for dinner and was so glad... More

We ate here on a Sunday a few weeks ago. The food was excellent. You could choose how you have your beef served and I chose mine rare and it was juicy and succulent. We each had our own dish of mixed vegetables which was plenty. We then ordered deserts; 2 of us had a chocolate pudding and the other... More

We have be coming here for many years The food in the restaurant is superb with a service to match. Some of the rooms are now a bit dated but this is a 19th century coaching inn But you are always made welcome With friendly staff. Kids dogs are very welcome too

I have stayed at The Bear for 5 days on 2 occasions in the last few weeks. The first room I stayed in (30) was faultless, very clean, comfy large bed, bathroom very modern, good wifi connection. The second room (20) was not quite as good in that it was a little tired and not as modern. However it was... More

Had a most enjoyable stay in a beautifully refurbished room in the main building. We were at the front of the hotel and traffic noise was not a problem. We sat in the bar by a roaring fire for our evening meal, cosy and warm.Food was great and good value.Would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay. Stayed for one night with my wife and our dog Polly. The rooms are great and the bar, restaurant and food are also very good. We ordered our food and were sat having a glass of wine when one of the waiters came out with some plates in his hand, he walked over to us and... More
