We ate here on a Sunday a few weeks ago. The food was excellent. You could choose how you have your beef served and I chose mine rare and it was juicy and succulent. We each had our own dish of mixed vegetables which was plenty. We then ordered deserts; 2 of us had a chocolate pudding and the other... More

We have be coming here for many years The food in the restaurant is superb with a service to match. Some of the rooms are now a bit dated but this is a 19th century coaching inn But you are always made welcome With friendly staff. Kids dogs are very welcome too

I have stayed at The Bear for 5 days on 2 occasions in the last few weeks. The first room I stayed in (30) was faultless, very clean, comfy large bed, bathroom very modern, good wifi connection. The second room (20) was not quite as good in that it was a little tired and not as modern. However it was... More

Had a most enjoyable stay in a beautifully refurbished room in the main building. We were at the front of the hotel and traffic noise was not a problem. We sat in the bar by a roaring fire for our evening meal, cosy and warm.Food was great and good value.Would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay. Stayed for one night with my wife and our dog Polly. The rooms are great and the bar, restaurant and food are also very good. We ordered our food and were sat having a glass of wine when one of the waiters came out with some plates in his hand, he walked over to us and... More

Wonderful old coaching inn type hotel attracting international, UK and local clientele. We had a sparklingly refurbished room with excellent facilities in the main house. Great for relaxing break, really excellent dining whether you want full dining or lighter meals. Great varied breakfast. Friendly welcoming team still in the same ownership and still dedicated to high standards of accommodation, catering... More

We have been using the Bear Hotel for dining as passing for numerous years and it never fails to please. It is well known throughout the area for its convivial atmosphere, historic character, convivial surroundings and good food. A cobbled forecourt, the old coach archway into the inner courtyard and the 19thcentury stagecoach timetable in the bar are all reminders... More

My wife and I have eaten in The Bear on many occasions when travelling on holiday between Ceredigion and Cornwall, the last time being on the 1st October when we enjoyed good food and extremely friendly staff who stopped to chat despite obviously being under pressure at a busy period. On all our previous visits we have enjoyed friendly and... More

First found the Hotel 20 years ago, so we booked for a 3 night break, we had a newly refurbed room which was quite a large room withh a kingsize bed. An old coach house (1432), with bars, restaurants and a lovely old banquetting hall which I believe is used when the restaurant is full. The garden area also well... More

Booked a double room night before... £110 for quite literally the smallest en suite room ever! I believe this room was in the set of the hobbit...smallest double bed .. kept headbutting a beam immediately after leaving room....also overlooked the A40 so noisy. Over priced However the restaurant and bar very good and staff friendly and helpful Just a very... More
