Convivial surroundings complemented by excellent cuisine. The Bear restaurant and bar tables we're full of diners by 8.00pm, a surprising development given this was a Tuesday evening. It's an obvious choice in the small town of Crickhowell, we weren't disappointed.

The hotel is a tastefully preserved old coaching inn which serves as a meeting and dining venue for locals and visitors, as well as being the most charming hotel in Crickhowell. Every aspect of this establishment deserves praise - it is a very friendly local pub (as long as you make allowance for the dry humour of the old boy... More

Came for the Greenman Festival weekend. Hotel has very large renewed rooms, done in such nice taste. Service is amazing, food in fantastic, and the price is well worth paying for! It is a must go for couples!

We did not stay at the hotel but came to visit for a big lunch before tackling the beautiful table top mountain. The food was served by friendly efficient waters. I had the special of the day a pork terrine which was well presented and full of flavour and my partner had the duck liver and port parfait, which I... More

A quaint coaching inn with bags of character. The car park is a bit small and is entered by a very tight turn through an arch. Well positioned in the centre of town which was has pleasantly surprising shops, a castle, and an arts centre. We didn't spend much time in the hotel as were in the area for the... More

We've been to the Bear many times for a meal and have never been disappointed. It's always a busy pub & restaurant, and would advise to book early and get there early, otherwise you are fighting your way through the bar area. The food is good with a large selection to choose from the menu, and the desserts are very... More

We went for Sunday Lunch and found the Bear to be picturesque with a cosy atmosphere. We had starters and mains which were of a good standard although I found a piece of plastic packaging in my starter that cut my mouth. I informed the waitress about the unwanted addition and she expressed concern before promising to inform the chef.... More

The lady was so rude and unhelpful on two different occasions we decided to take our bussiness elsewhere. Food maybe great (unfortunately we didn't get to experience it due to bad customer service) but there are plenty of nice pubs/ restaurants in the area so why not go somewhere with great food and great service for the same/similar price.
