Have eaten at The Bear four times this last week during our holiday as we had such fond memories of our experience five years ago. Everything was how we remembered - excellent home cooked food, polite & efficient staff. Only our dog was upset as on previous visits he was given a chicken dinner whenever we ate!!! We'd still return!

I have stayed here before while on business in the area and this time returned with two managers from Turkey. Like me they absolutely loved the Olde Worlde charm and couldn`t stop taking photos. The staff were as friendly and helpful as I remember. On checkout I mentioned where we were going and the planned route. They advised of a... More

We stayed there the night before my birthday as we were traveling through Wales. The room was lovely and we chose the room with the "jacuzzi", this was nor worth the extra money - did not worked as advertised althouth it provided a nice relaxing bath after a day on the road. Parking was difficult, car park almost full, parked... More

Went to the Bear last night for a birthday meal, was very impressed, the staff were lovely, and the food was outstanding, Pedro looked after us all night and made sure we had everything in abundance. Will definitely be visiting again soon. Also lovely and clean. All star were lovely, will be recommending to friends and family.

In a nutshell, the service we received at the Bear was extremely patchy; some staff were good, others bordered on offensive. Evening reception staff were particularly unwelcoming. At breakfast I had to go to the kitchen to ask for more tea as the staff didn't come out to check if we needed anything; we were served tepid bacon and egg... More

Parking was fine. Room 27 was good..large comfortable four poster...only issue was most of the lights turned off/on by door. Small lights by The bed had awkward switches. If not for lights 5 star rating. Bathroom spacious with jacuzzi bath was great. Dinner in the evening was excellent, really good choice... The lamb shank was out of this world as... More

Stayed in the Executive suite (outside apartments) which was lovely..nice spacious room, four poster, sofa, desk, wardrobe, en suite with shower and jacuzzi bath - very nice and very clean. The hotel itself is very well known, my Father lives about 2 miles away and everyone apparently wants to stay here. The food was very good and bar and restaurant... More

The room was atmospheric. Beams, huge fireplace, canopied bed. Felt like we were in an episode of 'Wolf Hall". Staff were attentive without being intrusive or overbearing. The food on the Friday night was excellent. The 'Valentine's day" menu was less enjoyable. We should have stayed with the regular menu. However, it was a fabulous weekend. We will definitely go... Stayed prior to a Wales rugby match in Cardiff with 6 friends. Had previously had good reports of it through friends and family so thought I'd try it myself. Really glad I did, food, drink and rooms were great. Wiff defo be going back again

Visited here after walking round Crickhowell. Very nice looking place with wood panels etc but Mrs A did not like it. Personally its what I would expect from an old coaching inn, but I am sure the barman was there when it originally opened! Oldy wordy experience which will appeal to a lot of people but not for us on... More
