Just returned from our trip to Ty'r Graig this wknd. We stayed last year on the same wknd. Once again our room was lovely and clean with Steve keeping us entertained throughout our stay. The staff were fantastic and once again Barmouth was beautiful, we love this hotel, it's history and views. It is old and you feel the love... More

We booked on the strength of the reviews in TripAdvisor and were disappointed. Even though the service was friendly and polite the rest of our experience was unacceptable for an AA 4-star accredited hotel. The room we booked was a dark and dingy, with a view of the road and housing estate, (marketed as mountain view), and the evening meal... More

Dear Itchy306, sorry to read that you did not manage to enjoy the same level of experience as the majority of our reviewers during your stay here. The two rooms facing the hills of Dinas Oleu do have large windows and are brightly decorated. Our location offers spectacular views of the hills and of Cardigan Bay. Being only half a... More

We have just had a wonderful Valentines weekend at this great, lovely, full of character and history hotel. Wonderful sea views, lovely short tour of the hotel on arrival, supported by lovely host and staff who were most helpful. Rooms clean and tidy, lovely four poster turret room, with great sea views. Breakfast great, overall really enjoyed our stay -... More

My Fiancée and me stayed here over Valentines weekend and it is where we got engaged! This hotel was simply fantastic! The room was beautiful, the service efficient and trouble free, staff so friendly and polite and all welcomed by very attentive and jolly hosts! The restaurant is really good and the breakfast cracking as well! The views are spectacular... More

Excellent hotel we have stayed here twice now and both times the service was of a great standard the staff are all very friendly and willing to help. We stayed in the four poster turret room with the seaview on both these occasions and the room was always clean well presented and the views are stunning. The breakfast was lovely... More

This is a really interesting place to stay. It's a Victorian castle and when you arrive they will give you a little tour and tell you a bit about it. We had a room with a sea view and it was wonderful being able to lie in bed and see the sea, and even hear it with the windows open.... More

Stayed for 2 days in rainy october. Met by wonderful hosts. Room ok but needs upgrade ... Carpet in the bathroom yuk !! Comfortable bed. Location is ok but not close to town. Disappointed as not an actual castle. A little history to the place though. Great view of the sea and cardigan bay if you look past the caravan... More

Hi Tllanc2, we are pleased to hear that you had a pleasant stay.Your room was one of 5 that we upgraded during our annual closure in January and we're also pleased to say that all 3 remaining rooms with carpeted en-suites now have lino flooring. My partner and I chose to stay at the Ty'r Craig castle just for one night, after a weekend in Snowdonia, and were very surprised at the hotels charm. The views from our room over Cardigan bay were outstanding, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Just one sour note was the very small en suite, and the shower decided... More

Hello Russ C, it's lovely to hear that you enjoyed a pleasant end to your weekend getaway. It is a charming building, as you've noticed. We agree some rooms here do have very small en-suites. This is due to space limitations when converting this old Victorian summer house into guest accommodation. There are rooms with larger en-suites and should you... More
