This place is just delightful, we stayed here for 2 nights of our 10 day tour of scotland, skye and the highlands, on our arrival to this beautiful b&b, we were greeted by lynn and asked to remove our shoes , (they were clean?) not a good way to start really but when you see how well kept this place... Your comments are very much appreciated. Hillside is surrounded by gravel, which does get brought into the house on/in footwear and therefore to protect the carpet we do ask guests to remove shoes before going upstairs. We enjoyed meeting you and Lyn and I hope to see you again in the future. More

We spent 2 nights at hillside Bed and breakfast and had a very mixed reception which I put down to the fact that I had messed around with my booking changing the number of people a couple of times. However reading the other reviews here I empathise with them on the mixed messages that Mick and Lyn give their guests.... More

Messed around is an understatement: You sent us thirteen emails in four weeks, five of which involved changes or cancellations to the number of guests, rooms and/or the length of your stay. The last email which was sent less that 48 hrs before you arrived stated, that five adults were now coming, needing two rooms for one night and only... More

My friend and I were welcomed at very short notice into this lovely B&B, and can do nothing but compliment Lyn and Mick on their hospitality. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom spacious and luxurious (we had access to shared bathroom as our room was not en suite, although no one else was using it during our stay), and... More

2 couples and a single, stayed in 2 rooms for 2 nights - Nice, clean and well maintained rooms and bathrooms (one with ensuite, one with bathroom across landing) - On site parking (definitely need a car to get to Waternish!) - Beautiful location (sunsets, wildlife, night sky) - Excellent cooked breakfast - Great value for money - Lots of... We are very sorry about the "do's & dont's" which you referred to! This summer has been exceptionally dry here on Skye and as we have our own private water supply and are not on mains drainage. We did ask all our guests during this dry spell to be economical with their use of waterso that no-one was inconvenienced by... More

We stayed two nights and Mick and Lyn made us feel very welcome. The house is very nice and in a perfect location. Mick and Lyn gave us some great tips on where to go on the island and also informed us about the great pub down at the waterfront. The breakfast was also excellent. It's also great value for... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with friendly and welcoming hosts Mick and Lyn. The views out to sea and towards the Western Isles were magnificent from the relatively new, spotlessly clean and adequately spacious accommodation upstairs. Mick made the computer available without any qualms. Both our hosts were interesting to converse with and we would return if in that part... More

It is worth going to Waternish purely for a good meal and a drink at the oldest Inn. My friend and do not usually stay in B and B' s- so know it is not like staying in a hotel-but found our 'welcome' at the house a little off-putting-as well as the fact that we have to take our shoes... More

Thank you for your review it is helpful to receive comments from our guests. However we do not ask our guests to remove shoes at the door only to remove shoes before going upstairs. I don't like those B&B where you get the impression you are disturbing the owner. The impression that you are not really welcomed, but tolerated since you help paying the mortgage. As soon as you arrive you are being read the rules of the house and nobody will help with your luggage. I think that hospitality business is about hospitality.

We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. A breakfast menu is also supplied, which we ask be filled in... More
