I stayed at Smithy House back in 2011, so I apologise if the owners have changed since. This was my first solo holiday away from my parents, and I was tempted by the affordable price for a double room, and the evening meals provided. Immediately on arrival, the owner seemed miffed that I was by myself occupying a double room,... More

We stayed a night at Carol and Peter's and we enjoyed it very much. There's a bus stop just nearby and the house is very close to the road (4 miles easily hitch-hiked) to the Carsaig Arches, a nice walk between sea and hills, with plenty of occasions to meet wild goats, seals, eagles, etc. The sight from Smithy House... We happened upon Smithy House, having been told about it by the owner of another hotel just up the road that hasn't yet started doing lunches. We couldn't recommend it highly enough. Firstly, a very warm welcome awaits you. Essentially, you're walking into the owner's kitchen and it feels very homely. Carol keeps her lunches simple, tasty and great value.... More

it would be worth booking in at the Smithy just for the incredible setting-the view out over the loch to ben more is breathtaking, and it was a pleasure to sit on the picnic tables taking it all in. the rooms are comfortable and the breakfast was generous-i really liked sitting in the kitchen for the morning meal. lovely welcome... My girlfriend Janet and I came to stay here at Smithy House last year, and we liked it so much we came again this year. The setting is magnificent. The B&B is on the edge of a sea loch, with wonderful views, including from our bedroom window. I don't think I have ever stayed so close to the sea (at... More

We happened to have a puncture right outside smithy House on the way back from Iona heading towards a booked Ferry crossing. Was greeted by Carol who said she was just opening. Peter was just putting scones in the oven. He immediately offered to change my wheel and refused payment. When I said I had to give him something ,... More

Me and about 20 other hungry cyclists were very pleasantly surprised to find Carol and Peter's place on a rainy hard day's cycle from Craignure to Iona. Thankfully for Carol, one of our party was able to forewarn her of our arrival. They were only to happy to cater for us despite number and short notice... Amazing soup, selection of... More

We stayed one night. Carol and Peter were really friendly and warm. We had booked two rooms a double with a put up for us and our youngest and a second twin room for my Mum and daughter. Unfortunately when arrived at 5 pm we were told that the twin wasn't available, I think this was because they had a... More

We had a fantastic stay in Mull staying at Smithy House. Carol could not have been more welcoming and the evening meal that she prepared for us on arrival was very nice. It is not often that you can completely relax in a place and have it feel like home but this is certainly true when you stay at Smithy... More
