We stayed at the Pennyghael for two nights on a B&B basis, but had a evening meal of baked sea bream on the first night that was delicious. We appeared to be the only guests that were actually booked in, but others came for the evening meal. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere and it is idyllic to... More

Our stay during May 2014 was our second visit to this hotel and is, for us, a perfect base for exploring the south side of Mull and the island of Iona. The views from the rooms at the front of the hotel and the dining room which all overlook Loch Scridain are awesome. Furthermore, after five previous visits to Mull... More

We stayed in the main hotel on a DB&B basis for 5 nights. ....thoroughly enjoyed the ambience ..the food was superb ...particularly enjoyed the local muussels starters so much so we had them each evening. From our window we enjoyed and photographed the ever changing light and weather As it reflected on the nearby loch.... Thoroughly recommend this family run... More

My wife and I had a short, enjoyable stay at the Pennyghael in August 2014. Our room was nicely furnished and immaculately clean. We had dinner each night and rated the food highly - we also took a liking to "Calgary Gold" beer! As artists we liked the location - quiet, scenic and within easy reach of the ferry to... More

We stayed for 3 nights and the Hotel was in a good location for visiting Iona and also birdwatching. Our room was warm and cosy with comfortable bed and an ensuite bathroom with bath, which I always prefer to a shower when on holiday. The breakfasts were delicious with the best bacon and sausage I've had for a long time,... More

After visiting this hotel several times last year for drinks ,we were looking forward to returning and having a meal here and enquiring about staying in the future. This was approximately 5pm. On arrival all was quiet but we were aware that guests were checking in so waited patiently. When the owner, who we recognised from the previous year, appeared... More

We stayed in Clansman cottage which is attached to the hotel. This is the fourth time we have been to Pennyghael and you really can't beat it for location. You can literally throw a stone into the loch from the front door. Seals are frequent visitors but the star is the 9.00 am swim past of the otter. The sunsets... More

We stayed in one of the cottages very comfortable. We had three meals in the resturant and sat in the bay window over looking the loch. Absolutely beautiful. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The mussels were to die for, the main course was spot. on and the desserts all freshly made. I would definitely recommend this little gem.

Lovely hotel in a stunning location. Handy for visits to Iona & Staffa, it's also close to the beautiful scenic route which winds up north to Tobermory. The owners Joy & Tony and the rest of the staff couldn't have done more for us. Our hotel room (#3) had a lovely view of the loch and Ben More. Food was... More

We stayed here for 3 nights, the view of the loch is spectacular! If you want to travel to Iona from Mull this place is far more convenient to catch a ferry than anywhere in Tobermory. Finally the restaurant has a lot of choice and is very good which is great if you don't fancy driving out for food! We... More
