Small hotel but big on everything that matters. Spacious comfortable rooms, attention to every detail, excellent food. Could not fault it; and not expensive for the Hebrides. Especially appreciated the downloaded weather forecast on the table at breakfast. more

Discovered Rodel when looking for a special hotel in a special place to celebrate a special anniversary. Rodel was all we could have wished for and more with excellence in so many ways that without doubt we will come again. Donnie, Dena and all their team made us very welcome from the moment we arrived and our two dogs were... more

This lovely Hotel is a well kept secret and one I heard of by word of mouth, its set in one of the most picturesque places I’ve ever stayed. The Hotel is owned and run by a very warm and welcoming couple who looked after me and the family very well. Kids are well catered for, rooms are traditional and... more

August 2008 While on the Isle of Harris we discovered that it was one of the few hotels and restaurants open on a Sunday! And it was a joy and amazing experiance to find such beautiful food - wonderfully prepared and fresh. The restaurant itself could equal any best establishment in Europe. Marie Ferguson-Smith more

Stayed here for two nights (19th and 20th July). Fantastic hotel, staff and food. We were late in arriving, so ate elsewhere on route to the hotel on the first night...BIG mistake. the meal we received on our second night in the Rodel was poles apart. Breakfast was also very good...perfect scrambled eggs, which could only be improved with the... more

We stayed for 2 nights on a cycling holiday in June. We up to that point stayed in B & B's and hostels, but the weekend here was a real treat. At £100 for the room this was scarcely more than the high end B & B's but was really worth it.. We particularly liked the coffee coloured Harris Tweed... more

I was born in Harris and in my younger days was a regular visitor to the hotel with my father. This was my first visit back to Harris in many years and was eagerly looking forward to staying in my old haunt. However, I found the hotel had lost most, if not all of its old charm. That charm of... more

Previous reviews note that the hotel is basic in some areas and while true this does not do it justice at all. Approaching from either side the hotel is imposing and has huge natural presence in an awesome landscape & seascape. It is a great place to relax and unwind and the staff cannot do enough to help you. It's... more

The hotel should be wonderful - a fabulous setting and an historic building, but it was more like a residential home for the elderly inside. The public areas were depressing, the restaurant/ bar more like a Travel Inn and the bedroom was very ordinary. The building was featureless inside with terrible artwork on the walls. We ate in the restaurant... more
