If you're not keen on staying in a "remote" spot then Grimisdale isn't for you - on the southern tip of Harris, in a peaceful Lochside setting. Leverburgh itself is a small "village" with the basic facilities you'd expect, but the nearest pub, petrol etc is a 20-30 minute drive away in Tarbert. We stayed in the Harris room, which... more

The rooms are surprisingly spacious, and the house itself well located on the edge of a loch, but also very close to Leverburgh, which is convenient for taking the ferry to Uist. Farquar is a genial host. Breakfasts are substantial (though the choice is limited for non-meat eaters.) more

We stayed for a week at Grimisdale and had an excellent time there. As has been said in previous reviews the room was clean and very comfortable with an amazing view but it is Farky the owner who made our stay truly memorable. You will never meet a more helpful and generous host. It's a great shame he is planning... more

We have just returned from 6 nights at Grimisdale and agree with the positive comments in the other reviews; it was a superb place to stay. Great location, comfortable room with fantastic view (we were in Uist Room), huge shower, friendly informative host, excellent breakfasts - what more could one want? more

Superb in every way. A gem. Farky, the host, is hospitality itself. The room we had was spacious, clean and comfortable. The power shower was outstanding. Redeems one's faith in humanity. The only caveat is that Farky is trying to sell the place and that might cause a hick up. more

This is a really great location for visiting the Isle of Harris, rooms are clean and functional and the property is in a quiet location, although the property is currently up for sale, don't be put off by this, Farquar is enthusiastic about Harris and has excellent local knowledge and looks after his guests. The nearby beaches are fantastic and... more

We spent two nights at the Grimisdale on our honeymoon in October. Harris was truely breathtaking and I would defy anyone to find a more romanatic destination. Because it was quite late in the season, we had hugh expanse of beaches to ourselves and our time on Harris was one of the highlights of our honeymoon. We were the only... more

We booked directly with Farquhar and were able to select our room having seen accurate pictures of the rooms on the B&B's own website. We were in the Lewis room which faced over the loch. Farquhar was friendly and although he had a dog, he asked us whether we minded dogs or not and we didn't see much of it.... more

We just got back from Isle of Harris and absolutely loved it. The guest house was very nice. The best part was the owner, Farquer. He gave us excellent tips about where to eat, where to shop, and arranged a boat trip for us. At the same time, he wasn't overbearing. The shower was great. The view was spectacular. The... more

We had the whole top floor which we shared with our traveling companions, including two bedrooms, a shower room and a lounge with fantastic views over the loch. We were made very welcome, despite turning up hot and sweaty in our biker gear. The the welcome was warm and very friendly, the place was immaculate, our bedroom lovely and the... more
