Very little to complain about from our trip to Scarista house but on the other hand not too much to shout about given the costs, particularly compared to other (cheaper) hotels on our trip. The bedroom was nice, but old fashioned, and the bathroom was slightly cramped. Internet access is unavailable in the bedrooms which is disappointing, but not that... More

Scarista is a pretty house situated in a remote location. You get a fab welcome with homemade cake scones and shortbread by an open fire! Our room was lovely with views over the beach and tasteful classic furniture. The evening meal is fab - so good people are booking up year-on-year and coming from other parts of the island to... My husband has been longing to stay at scarista house for a number of years. We were not disappointed a beautiful hotel with 5* food. I have to say their web site does not do it justice. Tim and Patricia were incredibly lovely and so helpful with every little detail, even allowing us to borrow their dog to walk !... More

Scarista House adds to the charm and mystique Of Isle of Harris in Outer Hebrides. Hotel is quaint and relaxing with excellent cuisine. "Set" Dinner menu works in association with custom of guests meeting and mingling pre dinner exchanging days/weeks holiday experiences with refreshing frankness. Breakfast outstanding. Country House with relaxed leisurely feel rather than functional hotel. Surrounding countryside beaches... More

We spent 2 nights at Scarista after a couple of amazing nights on an uninhibited island with no electricity or toilet. The shower we had once we had booked in and had afternoon tea was a real treat and after dinner it was so wonderful to sink into a bed that felt as soft as a cloud. We had a... More

We left it to the last minute to book a return visit to Scarista House and were delighted to find that we could be squeezed in for dinner. It's a fairly formal event and you are somewhat thrown together with your fellow diners, luckily we got on very well with our companions for the evening but I suppose things could... More

We stayed at Scarista House for three nights at the beginning of June. The location is wonderful, a few minutes walk from a long sandy beach and our room in the main house was lovely, with a very Hebridean view of cemetery, wild landscape & coast. The breakfasts were delicious, as were the evening meals & the service exemplary -... More

There list of hotels and guest houses in the Western Isles (Harris, Lewis and the Uists) is not that long so this, perhaps, is not the accolade it sounds. Nevertheless Patricia, Tim and their team contrive to match or exceed standards achieved by prestigious hotels in much more populous areas. The location is stunning set back from a quiet road... A lovely old house, decorated with antiques, old squashy chairs, local art and beach combing finds. Set above the beautiful white sands of Scarista beach. A quirky, slightly shabby but comfy hotel. Dinner is a set menu, fellow guests meet for drinks in the sitting room at 7.30, followed by dinner at 8pm after which drinks are taken back in... More

Visiting Harris for the first time led me to Scarista. Patricia and her team provide a haven of calm in such a stunning setting. Every breakfast was a treat, setting 'one up' for hours of solo enjoyment on the most amazing beaches. My dog and I had the most wonderful time. Afternoon tea was a delight, and after a power...
