Sitting on our balcony we spent our first morning at Tanglewood watching seals playing in the loch a stones throw away. To be honest, if the rest of our stay had been awful, I would still have said it was worth the money. Happily, that couldn't have been further from the truth. We found Anne and Julian to be warm,... Tanglewood is a real find. The location is breathtaking. The welcome is genuine. The evening meal was of the highest quality - in provenance and preparation. The breakfast was generous. The porridge - sublime. I'll be back... More

We stayed at Tanglewood after a wet and windy drive up to Scotland from West Wales, and were made very welcome. Found by luck, and how lucky! Beautiful location next to the loch, friendly welcome from Ann and son, Julian, and sumptious, comfortable, romantic bedroom. Yummy breakfast on both days, with Ann/Julian cooking dinner for us on one night -... More

Architecturally striking outside, comfortable and traditional inside, with lots of books and pictures. Anne and her son Julian are charming hosts with a lovely home, and it is a privilege to share it. Our balcony room was excellent and had a fabulous view over the loch and towards Ullapool. The food was of the highest possible standard. It's not for... More

Our family stayed at Tanglewood House for three nights over a long weekend. The two rooms were perfect for our needs with views of the loch and Ullapool. The cooked breakfasts were amongst the best ever experienced. The dinners were creative and beautifully presented. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We were made to feel quite at home and a part... first impressions of Tanglewood were very good, Anne was very hospitable and offered us a cup of tea and piece of homemade cake and showed us to our room. it was very clean but not the balcony room i had been hoping for and it was quite small. The views over the loch are lovely. What i found concerning was... More

It's a beautiful location - and the green room is comfortable and has a terrific view. But just about everything else is too vague and approximate to justify the high cost. The hosts on this evidence don't make one feel very welcome. Dining here was similar to the invitation of a distant unloved Aunt, only to be banished to the... More

We stayed here for 4 nights and had the lovely Green Room with the balcony. I don't think we have had many rooms with such a great view before looking out over Loch Broom. Anne and Julian are quintessentially English (so if you are expecting a stay with a Scottish family you won't get this) - however, they are such... More

A beautiful house in a superb location. The grounds weren't as extensive as I'd somehow imagined from the website, but were nice, on the lochside, with rock pools, etcetera. Inside - bedrooms, sitting room - all very pleasant. Anne and her son were friendly and interesting. My main reservation was the dinner. It was a perfectly ok dinner - in... More
