Our room was fairly basic but quite acceptable with a view of the harbour. We had an evening meal lin the lounge/bar of the hotel and were surprised to hear the manager say to us in a rather terse manner that he wanted our table for 9pm tapping on the table as he did so. The table was in fact... more

I am puzzled by the postive reviews of this hotel - we were very disappointed overall. The location is great and we had a fantastic views of the harbour. Plentiful supply of biscuits in the room was welcomed. However, the rooms are very dated and ours was not well maintained - very dusty and the bed was not properly made... more

Again, I had a lovely time in Ullapool, staying at The Argyll, as usual. There was live music on two of the nights during my stay; the first was an acoustic folk evening where everyone brought along their own instruments - guitars, violins, percussion, mandolins etc, and sung if they wished! The second was a local folk/country band- all acoustic... more

Let's just say we KNOW we chose well with the Argyll Hotel in Ullapool...wow. The location, the place itself, and most importantly, the host and hostess and their staff-- all made for an ideal combination to visit this almost mystical port village on the very edge, literally, of the Highlands. I know some people are reluctant to give a place... more

I stayed at the Argyll Hotel, Ullapool for the nearby Ullapool Guitar Festival this October. It looks every bit the classic, timeless Scottish small family run hotel with bar and restaurant, inside and out. It is not the sort of place for pampering or oestentious surroundings, but Nigel and his wife ( sorry, her name escapes me now) have got... more

Stayed at the Argyll for the second time when visiting Ullapool. It is one road back from the harbour but we had excellent views from our second floor rooms. We were made very welcome when we arrived by our host who even bought the first drink for me in their excellent bar when he heard it was my birthday! (Don't... more

Having family in the Ullapool area who had insufficient room to accommodate the wife and I we chose the Argyll because it was some 200 metres from the Harbour and main shopping area. We thought, quite rightly that it would be a more quiet environment to spend a few days. Our welcome was warm and friendly and we were soon... more

Got a room facing the front which had seriously dodgy windows. The hinges had broken on one so if you opened it the window fell off. When it was supposed to be closed there was a wide gap round most of the window which the wind, rain and street-noise blew through. I'd expect the room to be at least wind... more

We are sorry that this reviewer did not enjoy their stay as we always do our utmost to ensure our guests are happy and comfortable. It is a shame that they were not able to operate their window. It is a tilt and turn double glazed unit and is not broken. It seals fully and is both wind and weather...

whilst not residents i feel urged to write the following; not much to say except the food which was advertised on the bar notice board bore little or no resemblance to the actual product, surf n turf has never in my knowledge taken the form of 2 small flans on a mountain of lettuce leaves! and furthermore , when queried we... more

I spent a very enjoyable weekend here, blessed with fantastic weather. The hotel has a pleasant relaxed atmosphere, with a couple of lively bars, and great views. It was a joy to look out from my front facing window! The hotel is a fairly typical mix of interior styles and I found it all very comfortable. I ate dinner once,... more
