I visit this hotel annually as part of a motorbike excursion and it is perfect for our needs. An old fashion hotel with basic but clean/comfortable rooms. Some rooms have en-suite, some with shared bathrooms and there is a four bunk room which was what we needed. The food has always been good (evening & breakfast) and the bar has... More

Oldish furniture and a big comfy bed in a clean en-suite room. It only needs a refurb if you're expecting a Holiday Inn. This is beautiful Ullapool and the last thing we want is modern. Our friends had a room with views of the loch. There's no lift and there are 3 floors so possibly a problem if you can't... More

Stayed two nights, had front room on first floor above bar. Noise not excessive but were already aware of possibility. Would like to have known our en suite room had a bathroom across the corridor, would still have booked here but would like to have known. Breakfast was a little disappointing, nothing felt local. The bar was lively, with good... More

Stayed here for one night for the start of our island hop tour round Scotland. Room was very clean and tidy with a lovely view over the small harbour. Bed extremely comfortable. Had a lovely pint in the pub with great conversation with the barman. Had a meal in the restaurant afterwards which was really delicious and value for money.... More

We got a good price, so can't complain too much. The rooms were basic and could do with some sprucing up. The showers were feeble. Service was good - the people were nice. It's OK but I'm not sure I'd want to put my family up here for more than one night.

Tired hotel. Every time someone in a neighbouring room closed a door our entire room shook. Dark and dismal riom even with the lights on in summer. The decor was very old with peeling wallpaper. Breakfast was bellow average and slightly shambolic typical quote from the waitress "the butter looks a bit weird and horrible 'cause it's melted". It's not... More

We travelled from Worcester up to Dunkeld, and then from Dunkeld to Ullapool to explore the highlands. We were extremely lucky with the weather, with temperatures of 26 degrees giving us the best welcome we could possibly have had. Coming into Ullapool, the scenery is spectacular. Although it's a functioning fishing port, and has a few hotels and B&Bs, you... More

I've just been up to Ullapool for the Feis Rois and my friends and I had dinner in the Argyll on two consecutive nights. The first night, I had braised ox cheeks and the meat was so tender you didn't need a knife. The taste was beautiful, the service friendly and helpful. I had some special requests as I'm low-carbing... More

The first thing to say is that this isn't a luxury hotel, everything is a bit dated and used, but still comfortable. However, I have to say that the staff were very welcoming. At the bar, reception and the restaurant too. They even went out of their way to serve us away from the restaurant (as my friend had his... More

On arrival to hotel, bar staff didn't acknowledge us, even though we were standing in the bar with our luggage! Checked and shown to the room, rooms decor was very tired and dated, bathroom had no hot water in sink tap, wallpaper was peeling of the walls! Room was very small & very over priced for what it was. Meal... More
