Friendly welcome. Wonderful view. Tired but spacious room - bathroom ceiling needs re-painting. Inefficient but pleasant service. Very good food exceeding the expectation created by the cafe style decor in the restaurant. Comfortable bed. Quiet beautiful location.

We arrived not knowing what to expect,as this was a business trip, prior to a ferry journey on to Stornoway. The hotel was booked by our company for us. First of all,Nigel,is the slightly eccentrically dressed owner but also a charming and enthusiastic host. Breakfast was excellant, beer was great too, although expensive. Rooms very clean and you are well looked after, nothing is... More

A less than warm welcome, no information about the, rooms, restaurant etc & felt like we were intruding! First impression of the loch view room were very good however, on closer examination, the room was a little tatty & the bathroom very basic. the room hadn't been hoovered, there was no fruit as booked, there was one small bottle of... We stayed in room 14, big comfy bed and comfortable armchairs from which to admire the view southwards over the buildings on the sea-front to the harbour and up Loch Broom to the mountains beyond. We were on the room-only rate, so didn't try the restaurant (which is out the back of the hotel and so has no views), or... More

Probably the best pub I encountered on a week long tour around Scotland. Great beer, good service and good food – and evening entertainment on some nights. A little more expensive than others in Scotland but perhaps that why the quality of goods was better.

Just returned from week in Isle of Lewis and stayed in the Argyll before we went to save overnight travelling. The Hotel looked good from the off but my first dissapointment was the room we booked. We booked the family bunk room thinking bunk beds for kids but didn't expect bunk beds for mum and dad especially for the £120... More

My husband and I have been travelling through Scotland. Starting from Perth to Aberdeen, Inverness, Thurso to Ullapool. There my husband got ill. I went to the reception where the owner helped me to call the doctor. Also they did not mind that we checked out in the afternoon. My husband felt ok to drive so we left Argyll Hotel.... More

Room was clean, with view of harbour. Floor boards did creak but thats what you expect in a building this old. Good evening meal and the grilled kippers in the morning were excellent. Folk music in the bar at night till 11pm.

Cheap but does not give too much: dirty bathroom, practically no water pressure, lighting was not working proprerly and fancoil was cooling the room whole night long (no way to switch it off). Breakfast does not worth the price, you can get better a la carte somewhere else. However for basic needs the hotel is an option with this price.

Pros: Room at the back was quiet Bed was huge & comfy Room & en-suite were clean Staff were friendly & helpful Breakfast was nice (as it should be for the price) Cons: Shower had no pressure so we had to have baths The price - I'm OK with spending £95 for a room but I'd expect at least a... More
