Nicely place just off the front street made welcome at reception and given our rooms on the third floor. However no Lift and if you have a heavy case you will be very exhausted by the time you negotiate the stairs. Room was in good condition but very tight the toilet was in good condition but light over the wash... More

Could do with some redecoration and minor repairs but the good food and clean/comfy beds make this hotel well worth considering. Advertised nightly entertainment did not happen every night. Getting a hairdryer from the manageress was like dealing with the gestapo !!

As most travelers to these parts we stayed overnight before catching the ferry to Isle of Lewis. The check in was easy enough but a smile (or at least some warm welcome) from the staff always helps. We dragged our luggage all the way to the end of the corridor. The room looked like it hadn't been renovated since the... More

Stayed for three nights to go to a wedding nearby. Bedroom was very small but adequate and clean enough. Some strange features like electric points in the headboard, wardrobe doors that persisted in swinging open and the shower curtain rail left in place even though a glass screen has been installed. Could do with more attention to detail and refurbishment.... More

No complaints for £30, tired, worn out but just about holding it together. Tiny single room, clapped out shower, vaguely smelly but comfortable bed after a long drive. Breakfast good, help yourself to haggis, beans and eggs. Ideally located for the ferry. Clearly seen better days, but if you know what your getting, value for money.

I like to review on the basis of what standard you would expect for the price paid.... This means a 5star hotel could get a worse review from me than a budget basic hotel, despite it being better decorated for eg. So on that basis, the Caledonian..... The price tag is inexpensive, and in keeping my expectations - fairly low.... More

Can't understand the list of bad reviews of this hotel we stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of July and we found that: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful Our room was clean, quiet, a good size and we had no issues with it at all Breakfast was good Having stayed in many other hotels we would certainly... Stayed with my family and the rooms were of a decent size. Old hotel, so quite a few creaky floorboards. The decor was a bit dated but the rooms clean and comfy. Breakfast was ok, buffet service with fried eggs as only egg choice. Wait until they bring fresh eggs out as they can get quite rubbery otherwise. A bit... More
