09/15 The Caledonian looks good from the outside, inside it is dated and obviously geared to the elderly coach party trade. The bedroom was just adequate but the shower had a sloping wall which nearly had me flat on my face on the floor, quite dangerous. The dining room is totally without character being like a works canteen and the... More

A group of four friends on a hillwalking expidition.Very cheap single rooms,on suite, clean and good value for money. The food in the Bar was poor. The worst cullen skink bar non in my life.Eat out is my advice as there are plenty good eateries about like the Seaforth,Frigate or Ferryboat inn .All within easy walking distance.Hotel has a descent bar. Most staff are... This is the worst hotel we have ever visited.AVOID BOOKING AT ALL COST. It is smelly, dirty and the bathroom in the room we were allocated was worse than a filthy public toilet.there was no curtains or blinds at the bathroom window and the bedroom was so small you could not swing a kitten in it never mind a cat.... Visited here earlier in the year with another couple. A standard room at the back, but we got a 3 night deal with breakfast so wasn't expecting sea views and a four poster bed. Rooms were clean and the beds fine. Buffet breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice (and haggis :) ). The reception area was nice... More

I had read other reviews on TripAdvisor prior to our visit and I was very anxious about having booked the Caledonian Hotel. I am happy to say, it was better than I expected it to be. Our room was clean with fresh bedding and towels and toiletries. Our room faced towards the side of the hotel which was quiet. Breakfast... More

This was my first visit to the North West Highlands and the Caledonian Hotel is in the perfect position for exploring Coigach and Wester Ross. Situation one street back from the harbour it is surrounded by galleries and art shops and a stroll along the waterfront was one of my favourite evening activities. The hotel itself is comfortable if a... More

We were three adults travelling together and booked a family room at the Caladonian. The hotel is a very historic, large one in Ullapool. It has obviously been quite grand in the past, but is now just pretty worn out. The room had 4 single beds and two large wardrobes, with not a lot of room for anything else. The... More

We stayed at the Caledonian Hotel for 1 night during a recent driving holiday around Scotland and strongly suggest you avoid this hotels at all costs. The room we had was small, uncomfortable, dusty, old, poorly finished, and not sound proof at all. We could hear every step the people above us took, every time they used their bathroom, and... Clean and cheap is about all I can really say. Very tired hotel but a roof for the night and an average breakfast - to be fair I turned up late and tired and it was only £30 so can't really expect more - that said Ullapool and the western side of Scotland are well worth a visit

This hotel has been refurbished and redecorated since my last visit, some 3 years ago. resulting in a much more pleasant experience than before when the surroundings were shabby and depressing. Breakfast was basic and unimaginative, but adequate.
