Our check in consisted of a young lady who's English was not very good and who was not very knowledgeable about what was in the hotel. "She's new and just training" was the answer from the other receptionist. Not a good start. Even although the restaurant was open until 9pm, the receptionist insisted that we would have to go in... more

Obviously I am very disappointed to read your comments and would personally like to apologise, if you had been given the correct information at check in you would have been advised to eat in the bistro but unfortunately this didn’t happen and led to a poor experience, Thank you for pointing this out I will make sure this doesn’t happen...

This was a break with relatives from Canada and I am embarrassed that this will be their impression of Scottish Hospitality. There were many negative / concerning incidents during our stay; 1. Not having enough cups for guests to have tea/coffee with breakfast 2. To be told by the General Manager when asking for the dangerously broken water jug to... more

I can honestly say that I didn't experience any of the negative reviews listed. Food and service was excellent. Room was a good size, clean and fresh. Parking provided. Good value - wine and chocolates provided on arrival. Overall - well above average. I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay in this hotel. more

Spent two nights in this hotel. Everywhere in need of much attention. reception area tatty with threadbare carpets. Food and hygiene awful. Would not advise anyone to stay in this hotel more

I do apologise that on this occiasion we clearly failed to meet your expectations. It was very disappointing to read that you did not agree with the many Tripadvisor members who found our food and service excellent and overall good value for money.

TV reception so poor it was unwatchable. Radiator thermostat was broken. Not enough towels or toilet paper when we arrived. Carpet was threadbare. One of the lights didn't work. Whole place looked tatty. Only plus point was the Caley Inn bistro - food was simple but well cooked and the waitress was friendly. By far the worst place we stayed... more

I was very disappointed to read your comments in regards to your room and do apologise that we failed to meet your expectations. I am confident that if you reported your concerns to a member of the team at the time many could have been rectified very quickly. I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your evening meal with...

Helped us out as we were desperate for a bed after a long drive. Only comment I'd like t o make is that we never got a wink of sleep because the mattress on the bed was just one mass of hard lumps. We wondered if maybe the room was a staff room as no one would expect paying guests... more

We travelled with Alfa Tours and overall had a fantastic week. The Caledonian Hotal is in a very central location just up the road from the harbour. The rooms are small but are comfortable and clean. Most people don't go to this part of the world to spend time indoors! The evening buffet meals were very good, always hot with... more

Horrible! Location great, staff okay. Bedroom Horrible. The room had half eaten biscuits in the hospitality tray. The bed leg was propped up and nobody cared. Was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. We sent a letter to the hotel and they never got back. So overall really bad. AVOID more

I was rather disappointed to have read your comments and would immediately like to apologise for the half eaten biscuits that you found in your room; there can be no excuse for these being missed during the daily servicing. Please rest assured this is far from the usual high standard of housekeeping here at the Caledonian Hotel and the team...

Sayed one night in the hotel, as we travelled up to Lewis, ideal location for the ferry, food & beers in Ullapool. Staff were friendly, room clean, with breakfast servived in a large dining room and of good quality. I am not sure where all the negative reports are coming from, we could not fault this hotel for £30 B&B. more
