Just back from our silver wedding anniversary stay in Ullapool, and appalled at our stay at the Glenfield hotel. Right from the moment we pulled into the carpark we knew it was not going to be what it portrayed on the internet. It is shabby and overgrown, the doors need painting. The reception was a mess, and smelled musty. The... more

When we booked by phone we were advised that there were no double rooms but we could have two single rooms at no extra cost. Having booked we checked reviews and they were not very encouraging. On arrival we found the staff friendly and helpful. We also found the rooms though small comfortable and clean. We also found dinner on... more

For one night I had to endure the Glenfield Hotel experience, I would not wish a stay in this hotel on anyone. First and foremost, the staff here are incompetent could not care less about your stay. The outdated exterior looks like a crumbling Soviet era housing block. The shabby interior is from when Margret Thatcher was still Prime Minsiter.... more

Arriving at the overgrown Car park and main entrance ensures one is not dissapointed with what they are about to experience on the inside. Musty, dank, dark corridors, rotten windows in room that dont open. Furnishings opast their sell by date. Breakfast buffet a joke as the food is not even cooked proepry. Overall avoid it if you want to... more

Dear Mr. Swallow, Having stayed at the Glenfield recently we'd like to suggest the following improvements: Repair the sign welcoming guests to the 'Glenfield Hote' Remove the wire perimeter fence. Cut the grass before it reaches waist height. Employ a receptionist who understands the meaning of 'customer service' Order some new bed linen and make sure it is freshly laundered... more

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights as part of a long weekend in the Highlands. First impressions of the hotel were not great - the location is lovely with views of the hills, but the hotel is essentially a grey concrete block of a building, sorely in need of a whitewash and with some window... more

I stayed in this hotel while travelling on business and I'm afraid i can't think of a good thing to say about it. The staff are awful, the rooms are tiny, the bedlinen looked about 50 years old, the blanket had holes in it, my TV didn't work (although I was one of the lucky ones apparently as many rooms... more

Having read some of the reviews of this hotel I felt I had to write to redress the balance. I have stayed at the Glenfield on 3 occasions and have found it to be one of the most friendly and welcoming of hotels. The hotel is in need of some upgrading and redecoration however the rooms are always clean and... more

We arrived after a long drive only to be given the key to room 28. On entering it was found to be very small with a very small 'double' bed. The bedding was the old style brushed nylon and was dirty, creased beyond belief and the bed itself was full of long brown hairs obviously from the previous guest! The... more
