I was very disappointed to read such poor reviews about this accommodation and very nearly altered our travel plans to avoid staying here, but in actual fact, I'm glad we didn't alter them. If you look into what you are getting from a place before finally booking, you should get exactly what you expect. I did, and I think some... More

Thought the place was shut down when first arriving it looked that run down! Inside was just like walking into the set of 70's/80's tv program 'Crossroads'. We stayed in room 5 that smelled like you'd walked in to an old people's house. There was a kettle but no cups etc. Asked for some at reception and was told that... More

Seriously guys...going through the reviews & I have to admit it is a laugh. BUT...the Glenfield is running as a hostel with basic requirements met. Thought it was ideal for what we wanted which was a laugh & a clean bed. There isint a problem with windows if you have some1 strong to force them, curtains??? I never had any,... More

Arrived at 5pm and was disappointed to find there was no electricity. I was reassured that this was not a basic requirement but the wonderful hungarian man manage to fix it anyway. The overwhelming smell appeared to be emanating from the disused sauna, possibly from a corpse. The blood stained sheets and mangy blankets were very useful for covering up... More

Stayed at the Glenfield for one night,ok the outside could do with a tidy up cut back bushes etc.The young local chap on reception was very helpful, the room was a good size, clean bed linen, bathhroom and shower also very clean.we had a continental breakfast in the morning, plenty cereal fruit juice, toaster was a bit temperamental, but apart from that everything was... I'd read the reviews on this place before I went, but was pleasantly required. Its bare-bones basic, but what do you expect for £19? The room was in a bit of a 70s time warp, but clean and functional. The bed was comfortable and the manager's a real friendly guy. Let's be honest, you are paying hostel prices, but getting... More

Just back from our silver wedding anniversary stay in Ullapool, and appalled at our stay at the Glenfield hotel. Right from the moment we pulled into the carpark we knew it was not going to be what it portrayed on the internet. It is shabby and overgrown, the doors need painting. The reception was a mess, and smelled musty. The... More

When we booked by phone we were advised that there were no double rooms but we could have two single rooms at no extra cost. Having booked we checked reviews and they were not very encouraging. On arrival we found the staff friendly and helpful. We also found the rooms though small comfortable and clean. We also found dinner on... More

For one night I had to endure the Glenfield Hotel experience, I would not wish a stay in this hotel on anyone. First and foremost, the staff here are incompetent could not care less about your stay. The outdated exterior looks like a crumbling Soviet era housing block. The shabby interior is from when Margret Thatcher was still Prime Minsiter.... More
