Had a weeks break with the extended family in Ullapool this month. On the last night we had dinner in the ceilidh place and it was an excellent end to the holiday. The lad who served us was attentive and engaging, and the food was excellent, as good a meal as I have had for a long time in the... More

Do NOT stay in the bunkhouse across the road. Shabby looking rooms with awkward and uncomfortable beds. No kitchen facilities. Not even a kettle in the room. A hall downstairs that is used for local live music, which can make for an interesting experience, unless you're trying to sleep. AVOID. Stay at the youth hostel instead!

Just popped in for a drink, two from the bar, a coffee and a hot chocolate. The place was quiet but the hot drinks took an age to arrive and the hot chocolate was luke warm. We had to remind the bar staff that we had ordered hot drinks. Not the end of the world, I know, but not great... More

Visits to Ullapool are few and far between but incomplete without a trip to the Ceilidh Place. This time it was for a two-night family stay in a twin room. As ever, the international hospitality team provided the right blend of 'relaxed' and 'service'. Whether it's for a sublime hot chocolate, a warming drink or a delicious meal, the Ceilidh... More

Food wasn't great in terms of breakfast. Rooms were simplistic which isn't a problem and were cosy but they also weren't too comfortable, I felt like there was a lot of moisture in the air in the rooms. The showers were good enough but there was only 4 cubicles in the secondary building as it was shared showers (which looks... More

Marvellous welcome at the front desk to us and our 2 westies. Clean comfortable room, both dinner and breakfast were superb with attentive staff. The residents lounge was fabulous, although we would have preferred tea and coffee making facilities in our room. All in all a very relaxing stay in Ullapool.

Another stay and I really like this place. But it's getting shabby around the edges and could use a bit of TLC. For the prices, they could do more. Dinner was very nicely done - friendly service and well prepared food if a little expensive. Didn't stay for breakfast, went elsewhere for a better value breakfast.

We stopped here yesterday on the recommendation of a friend. We had a fantastic meal and were served by lovely waitresses. My daughter had delicious proper fish fingers, beans and chips from the children's menu. The rest of us enjoyed haddock & chips, burger and the chowder. It was very busy but the staff were v friendly. Very clean bathrooms.... More

Arrived straight from the ferry to a warm welcome. The room was spacious with a very comfy bed and modern bathroom. The guest lounge was beautiful and our 3-year old loved the selection of toys to play with. We ate in the restaurant and were impressed with the food. There was no children's menu but we were told the chef... More

run down in many aspects, but good bed, bathroom and breakfast. Expensive. Good book selection in bedroom. Restaurant not welcoming (tatty menu for lunch, staff seemed uncaring) so went somewhere else.
