I was unfortunate enough to be 'stuck' in Ullapool due to car problems, and when washed out of our tent on the campsite, The Ceilidh Place came to our rescue. At short notice we were able to get into the bunkhouse whilst everything dried out. We've stayed there before and love the place. The (bunkhouse) rooms are simple, basic and... More

We staid 3 nights in July. Weather was excellent, hotel as laid back and relaxed as always, lovely rooms, guest lounge and excellent food, live music topped it off. We will be back again. So much to do and even an Island to buy for the odd 2 million pounds

Good menu, relying on quality local ingredients, cooked simply and well, and not trying to be too clever. Delicious mussels with a curried coriander sauce, mega fresh prawns, beautiful lobster which was excellent value for money. Unpretentious and very friendly service, as good as you'll get anywhere in our experience. The bearded wonder who seems to be in charge could... More

The food in the restaurant is good with a small but well chosen selection of local seafood and Scottish dishes with local craft beers being my favourite; Schihallion by the bottle. The breakfast was nice and the full plate with all the trappings was filling and good value.

Booked two double rooms but unknown to us, we'd not actually booked rooms in the hotel itself - but the hostel (also owned by Ceilidh Place) across the road. Not what we wanted! Shared bathrooms on the floor below us and with a view that's not quite to-die-for. This was obviously a miscommunication somewhere along the line but please be... More

We visited the Ceilidh Place to celebrate my nephew's wedding. The actual wedding ceremony took place outside in their lovely little garden. We were then inside for canapes and sparkling as it started to rain, otherwise it would have been held outside. The room for the wedding 'breakfast' is usually their restaurant, but they had transformed it into a banqueting... More

Agree with other reviewers about the slightly shabby room and bathroom but the lounge was comfortable and the food absolutely delicious. Hake - fantastic! Kippers - wonderful! Incredibly friendly staff too. We'd definitely stay there again :-)

We stayed for two nights as a group of four. Our greeting and subsequent treatment by staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a comfortable twin room for the first night but had a problem with the shower ( It stopped working when my husband was mid shower) also no privacy as the main window had no blind so... More

I ran a hotel and restaurant in Scotland for 20 years and always wanted to visit and stay at the Ceilidh Place in Ullapool as I noted it's continuing reputation for good food and friendly staff. Finally i had the opportunity to go and despite the hefty B&B price of £155 for 2 sharing a room, i booked. The West... More

This is a special hotel. The staff are welcoming. The lounge is comfortable and they have an honesty bar. They have a fabulous selection of books and a bookshop. Well worth a visit. We enjoyed walking around the colourful garden and we enjoyed our meal in the restaurant, although we wouldn't recommend the cheese or the wine by the glass.... More
