Arrived mid afternoon in Castle Douglas and asked at the tourist info office where could 5 of us get a good late lunch. The woman in the tourist info office pointed across the road, try there. We did. Staff where very helpful and attentive. Food was really good and good value. Steak pie was excellent. The home made fish cakes... More

Having been on many supposed golfing parties! I must say this one was the most memorable. We left the arrangements for the golf in the hands of our host Colin, we were rewarded with three great venues, all at great rates. On arrival at the Crown we were made most welcome and treat like friends by all, staff and locals... More

We took our 20 & 16 year old sons with us, even our youngest said he liked the feeling of the place. We ordered our food, three main courses and a starter for myself. The portions were massive. Our sons struggled to... More

The portions are large and homemade, staff friendly and pub traditional. All in all a good value meal in an old style pub that is worth... More

Went out for a drink tonight, my and my friends were all of age. We had been at another pub before hand and went to the Crown for our last drink as there was a singer on who was very good. One of my friends decided she had had enough and sat at our table while we had another drink,... More

Been to Castle Douglas several times and stayed in most of the hotels there. But the Crown is one I will return to. You get a friendly helpful welcome. All the staff can not do enough for you. The decor could do with updating but that is nothing compared to the hospitality you receive from Alexander, Colin and Sarah. The... More
