Stayed with the hotel when traveling on business. Found the food mixed, with the staff very receptive. The owner's leave a lot to be desired, their sharp attitude and short manner are appalling!!!. If you want somewhere with average food, good hired staff (who are paid to be nice to you!!) then stay here. If however you want somewhere decent... more

Very helpful staff, great food, good location. 15 min walk into Castle Douglas. Room clean and tidy, fittings could do with a bit of maintainance. But at £75 per nt with 3 course meal for 2 and breakfast what more could you ask. more

Like some of the other reviewers I will not be returning. The first room I was shown to smelt of disinfectant as if they were trying to cover something up. When I mentioned this I was quickly changed to a better room, which made me feel that because I was a solo traveller they had tried to fob me off... more

The hotel is situated along a nice driveway overlooking open country the exterior is a little unkempt but as with a lot of old properties its difficult to say how you could improve it and retain its character. On our arrival the reception was ocuppied by two noisey children who were joined by a harrased looking lady [the owner]?we were... more

Having read others reviews we were expecting good things but, we were disappointed from the outset. We agree that the hotel has a good location to Castle Douglas and good views. However there are a few problems with the hotel such as an unpleasant smell throughout the lounge and dining areas, the fixtures and fittings are dated and require upgrading... more

Booked this hotel for a short weekend break, 5 minutes from Castle Douglas, on arrival the long tree lined driveway made a grand entrance, and the old building is also very pretty. Our room overlooked the front on the hotel and a great view of the countryside. The room was clean and comfortable and looked freshly painted. We had dinner... more
