First the positive, there's only one. It was cheap. But cheap should not mean bad. I can't really think of any real other positives. The hotel is more a pub with rooms, and a noisy pub at that, with single-glazed windows. Our room overlooked the smoking area which got noisy as you would expect, meaning we had to close the... More

Nearly chose the 'poor' rating, but the soup and roll were good as was the liver and onions. The green vegetables were greatly overcooked, but then it's the fashion in these parts to murder their veg it seems. We only had lunch so cannot judge accommodation. The manageress (?) wears her glasses over her mouth and tells off the staff in... More

Had the misfortune of having to stay here for a night as everywhere else locally was booked. The hotel smells damp, the bedrooms are incredibly shabby and in dire need of an upgrade. The carpets have to be seen to be believed - ingrained dirt and stained around the toilet bowls. Breakfast very limited and the guy serving got our... More

We went for 2 nights in May 2014 - group of us mountain biking at the nearby 7 Stanes. Easy to find - loads of off road parking at back Rooms very clean - pretty basic and could do with new mattresses at some point soon! Breakfast was superb and the service was top notch - friendly and nothing too... More

We, my wife and I, stayed over two nights with 8 other friends for a mountain biking weekend (we are all over 40, some well over...). We only did B&B, so didn't eat a dinner here. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, even to the point of providing an extra breakfast when one of the guest decided to have... More

Stopped here as had the unfortunate luck of booking a stop over just outside of Castle Douglas (dreary town, I wouldnt bother again). The coffee was nice but small cups. I would have liked a bit more. The bar was pleasant enough and the man who served us was very nice so no complaints there.

Stayed here for work purposes, don't look for much but was disappointed with the standard, needs upgraded badly, ended up cutting short my stay going elsewhere, room was damp and the shower wasn't up to much at all, I won't go back there during future visits.

The bed was the most uncomfortable bed iv ever slept on, u could feel every spring in the mattress. The room was very cold as the heating wasnt put on till 4pm, even then it wasnt enough to heat the room. The bathroom was very outdated with a lot of mildew around the bath and sink. breakfast was ok but... More

Stayed at this hotel with my husband, 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter. What can i say a lovely place that was much bigger than it looks from the outside. The room was clean and beds very comfortable and the breakfast was beautiful but it is the staff is where the place really shines. They couldn't do... More
