Hired a room and used facilities as well as buffet and drinks catering, staff very attentive and caring, couldn't have done anymore. Booked and contacted by e-mail with prompt responses and Robert and staff at the event catered to every extra request

We've just had a short stay in The Bruce Hotel. We stayed in the family room, which we found more than adequate. Our 6year old found the beds so comfortable, we had trouble waking him up! The food was impeccable, especially the breakfast. As for Newton Stewart and the surrounding areas, AWESOME!

Overnight stay on the way back to England. In much need of decor update and modernising. All the locks are old circular handles and door keys must be handed in if you leave the premises for food. The rooms and hotel were very clean. I had a twin room which smelled musty as did the hotel generally. Breakfast was good.... More

This was a very pleasant clean hotel the room was large and was fresh and clean, the view from the window was stunning. The food was excellent and even though the hotel was short staffed due to a local show the manager on duty worked so hard to be everywhere to ensure everyone had what they wanted when they needed... This part of Scotland is not really a Tourist destination, and in our case we were en route to somewhere else, in which context the best that can be said about this establishment is that it served a purpose - just Old, with a tiny carpark entered via a very narrow archway, this hotel has little to recommend it other... A very pleasant stay in this beautiful (but not that well known) part of Scotland. The room was a good size and well equipped - the breakfasts were huge - and included haggis! - though you weren't obliged to eat everything! the evening meals were good too - plenty of variety and well cooked. This was welcome as dining out... More

Looking at pictures and the outside of hotel 1st impression certainly does not do justice. The room was clean and had superb views over the rolling countryside. The breakfast was delicious. We had an evening meal which was really nice and good portions though a bit expensive. The WiFi in the room was erratic.

In my opinion IGNORE all the bad reviews for this place. The people who've bad mouthed this place are obviously living in dream world where they think their S@#T don't stink and are used to silver service while 'Henry' pours them drinks and put mints on their pillows!! Get a grip. This place is fantastic. Food is excellent. Staff extremely... More

Friendly and welcoming staff, relaxed atmosphere, large and comfortable bedroom with lovely bathroom, great food and pet friendly. Our kind of place. Whilst our first night was peaceful, as we had expected from our last stay, there was a wedding reception on the second night, with loud music, and our room was directly above it. The owner was more than... More
