We stayed for two nights and it was one of the most relaxed places we've stayed, and very central for touring Galloway. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food excellent, and there aren't notices with rules of your stay all over the room! We loved the whole place, the decor may be a bit tired (less to worry... More

Owned by absentee owners this hotel really needs a thorough refurb. The decor is tired, the carpets pulling away from the wall a bit, and patchy - BUT....... it is exemplary in its cleanliness, and all the little extras are there, along with dedicated staff. The food is spot on, ordinary fare, nicely presented, hot, and in sufficient quantity. This... More

This is a lovely hotel within walking distance of the town centre. It has excellent views across the hills. We ate in the restaurant at night and had breakfast in the morning both meals were excellent. It is kept very clean and all the staff are really friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

We arrived at around 1am in the morning and they were more than happy to check us in out of hours. Very friendly, clean and tidy. Would recommend. Price was very cheap, we were only there for a few hours as a stop over on our way to Belfast but was a pleasant experience

£30 p.p. bed and breakfast . Callum , hotel manager and his staff were fab ( special mention to Callum, David and Sarah) . Nothing was too much trouble for our group of 12. Good laugh , Scottish hospitality at its best . Food was fab . So good we ate both nights of our stay . Delicious homemade food... More

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel - the first was a few years back and I didnt realise it was the same one I had booked until I pulled up outside. The first time I stayed here I was not impressed, the room was small, service was very average and I left not thinking much... More

Stayed here for two nights in July 2014 and enjoyed the glorious summer weather Newton Stewart had to offer! Also enjoyed was the excellent hospitality at the Bruce. This family-friendly, excellent value htoel just keeps getting better and better. The staff are the biggest asset of this hotel, whether they are staying awake until all hours to keep the resident... We stayed here for 2 nights in July 2014 and I highly recommend the place. Yes, the decor is tired and some may not have liked our room, but it was huge and wonderful for us and our 2 dogs. The staff more than make up for the decor and the food is excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and... More
