My Husband and I have just spent a wonderful weekend in this part of the country. The Hotel itself was impressive. The Staff were both friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The rates are reasonable and the food is top notch. The only downside is the kitchen closes at 8:30pm. The food is locally sourced and from excellent... More

We booked a family room for 3 nights for £255 B&B this was excellent value for 4 of us and ideal with two adjoining rooms, a large double with sofa for sitting and relaxing and a twin with shared bathroom, tvs in both - cheaper than a holiday cottage and no washing up!. The staff were lovely, very friendly, welcoming... More

We arrived late at the Bruce Hotel after coming from Northern Ireland on the ferry from Larne to Cairnryan. We had never been in this hotel before but thought it was absolutely superb. The room was well appointed and spacious and the staff were courteous and helpful. We had an excellent breakfast and left for our journey home to Yorkshire... More

I spent 3 nights here as part of a group of friends on a weekend away. The management and staff were all excellent, and couldn't do enough for us - it's a genuinely friendly and welcoming hotel. The bar is popular with local people and there can be a bit of noise at night from other guests, particularly in the... More

Our room overlooked the builders yard at the back, it was quiet but needs refurbishing, the bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on. Staff pleasant and breakfast was fine. Newton Stewart as a place is not great , I recommend anyone wanting to explore the Galloway forest should base themselves elsewhere like Kirkcudbright.

On arrival at hotel do not be alarmed by the seemingly very narrow entrance to the rear car park - a careful, slow approach gets your car through safely. Rooms are on first and second floors. No lift. We had room at back with a view to the hills (once you had averted your eyes from the roof top of... More

Booked as a last minute as I has heading up to catch an early Cairnryan boat. This place was an excellent bolt hole. Old World old style hotel but oozing charm and all the staff believe in proper Scottish hospitality. The most friendly hotel I've been at in a long time. A good get away from all the corporates. Lovely... More

Me and my girlfriend took a romantic trip to see the stars on Valentine's day however disaster was afoot in the shape of a rain cloud so like typical glaswegians we turned to alcohol! The location is perfect for stargazers (hopefully better than us), hillwalkers and outdoor enthusiasts. We cant comment on the outdoor part due to weather conditions but... More
