Stayed here for the Music Festival and found it excellent value for money.. Fantastic, friendly staff and great food. Juke box a little too loud in the bar while eating but someone else asked for the music to be turned down and this was quickly done. Overall would recommend.

The Blackhorse Hotel is very much a local country pub. Nothing too fancy but the staff were some of the friendliest people we have met on our travels. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The ensuite was modern. Breakfast was hearty with a full English breakfast available. We had a meal in the hotel and it was... More

This was excellent value hotel with staff who could not have done more to help. Our rooms had been recently refurbished and were spotless. Lost a star for breakfast (undercooked bacon, no real butter).

We stayed at the Blackhorse Hotel last month and were welcomed by friendly staff. The lovely room we got was spacious and clean, and has a large shower area. We consider the location of the hotel ideal for our jaunts about the area. We ate most nights in the bar area, the meals we had were excellent and satisfying. Our... More

Spent the long bank holiday weekend here to access the Galloway Forest Park. The rooms are wonderfully thought out with lots of space and thoughtful touches that made the stay really comfortable and relaxing. The staff were all top notch - nothing was too much trouble. Plenty choice on food and drink and also a quieter dining room if you... More

Stayed at the hotel a few weeks ago with a shooting party. The hotel was very cosy. The staff were top notch. Had a few drinks in the bar, it was a busy little place the service was great. The breakfast was also very good and we will be going back very soon

The Black Horse (like many establishments in this area of Scotland) would benefit from a big sign outside which yells "This is a nice place!" The Black Horse is a GREAT place. Sadly hidden behind the small, frosted windows of a dodgy looking pub... which makes you scared to venture inside. Once you've taken the leap of faith you do... More

We came here to visit family who live in Newton Stewart. From the moment we got here nothing was too much for the dtaff, they were very helpful. The room was nice, had a 32inch freeview tv, kettle and was warm. There was a lack of plug sockets but I brought my own multi plug - problem solved. Breakfast in... More
