We stayed for one night and were greeted by a very friendly young lady on arrival. The room was good, clean and had everything we needed, A good breakfast and the bar in the evening was quite entertaining as they do like to sing.

We spent one week in this hotel and were extremely happy with it.The staff were always cheerful, efficient, helpful and polite. The whole building was clean. The room was immaculate.Breakfast was perfect, we got what we asked for and always a smile. Dined there some nights and enjoyed the meals.Prices were fair. [ This hotel was far superior to one we... Stayed here for the Music Festival and found it excellent value for money.. Fantastic, friendly staff and great food. Juke box a little too loud in the bar while eating but someone else asked for the music to be turned down and this was quickly done. Overall would recommend.

The Blackhorse Hotel is very much a local country pub. Nothing too fancy but the staff were some of the friendliest people we have met on our travels. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The ensuite was modern. Breakfast was hearty with a full English breakfast available. We had a meal in the hotel and it was... More

This was excellent value hotel with staff who could not have done more to help. Our rooms had been recently refurbished and were spotless. Lost a star for breakfast (undercooked bacon, no real butter).

We stayed at the Blackhorse Hotel last month and were welcomed by friendly staff. The lovely room we got was spacious and clean, and has a large shower area. We consider the location of the hotel ideal for our jaunts about the area. We ate most nights in the bar area, the meals we had were excellent and satisfying. Our... More

Spent the long bank holiday weekend here to access the Galloway Forest Park. The rooms are wonderfully thought out with lots of space and thoughtful touches that made the stay really comfortable and relaxing. The staff were all top notch - nothing was too much trouble. Plenty choice on food and drink and also a quieter dining room if you... More

The Black Horse (like many establishments in this area of Scotland) would benefit from a big sign outside which yells "This is a nice place!" The Black Horse is a GREAT place. Sadly hidden behind the small, frosted windows of a dodgy looking pub... which makes you scared to venture inside. Once you've taken the leap of faith you do... More
