We called at the House O'the Hill after a walk up the Merrick, during a recent camping trip to Balloch o Dee (but thats another review). The beer & food were so good , we felt it rude to cut short our stay and stayed in one of their lovely B&B rooms. We had hoped to wander out and do... More

Booked this hotel for my family for a weekend. Was a little worried that with a put up bed rooms may have been too cramped for 3. Not all all ! Rooms are lovely. Great decor modern and very clean. Beautiful setting. Excellent breakfast. Great hospitality. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this hotel whatever the traveller.

Arrived late, thanks to crying infant, but the hotel staff were lovely. Well, I say hotel, it's really more of an inn. We had phoned ahead to say we were running late and staff were very obliging. When we arrived, tired and wet (it lashed rain all the way there and we got soaked just crossing the road from the... More

We recently had a meal here with friends following a golf outing to St Medans. The food was excellent and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. I have been here here a while ago but it has been recently refurbished and it has been well done. I would recommend it to anyone for a lovely meal and would use... More

On our way up to the Western Isles we overnighted at House O'Hill. Although it was a good hour drive off the motorway we were not disappointed. The accommodation was clean and spacious, and dog-friendly. Their kitchen however is their big attraction and will bring us back next time we travel north. The food was excellent and the selection of... More

A grand surprise after a long day's walk over rugged countryside. Our room was compact but beautifully clean and appointed. Sparkling bathroom with abundant hot water for a much needed shower. We had a warm welcome upon arrival and were equally well looked after when we spent time at the bar and later for an evening meal. The food was... More

This Inn lies on the edge of Glen Trool and the Galloway hills. Excellent location for exploring this interesting area. Very pleasant and helpful staff with good facilities and very good food. Member of CAMRA but not a large selection of real ales which is probably a good decision as it will not have a big turnover of beer particularly... More

Have just had a week in Curleywee Cottage which is part of the House o Hill set up being four or five paces from the main hotel/bar/restaurant. I don't need to add too much more to all the other reviews of this little gem. Trust the reports it really is a wonderful place. Warmest of welcomes, great service, outstanding food,... More

First night back in the Scottish mainland after a long overnight ferry from Orkney to Aberdeen and 6 days under canvas, we'd had a 200+ mile trip down through some wonderful scenery and superb biking roads but were really glad to use the lovely modern shower and have a 2 hour afternoon nap in the super-king sized bed to catch...
