A grand surprise after a long day's walk over rugged countryside. Our room was compact but beautifully clean and appointed. Sparkling bathroom with abundant hot water for a much needed shower. We had a warm welcome upon arrival and were equally well looked after when we spent time at the bar and later for an evening meal. The food was... More

This Inn lies on the edge of Glen Trool and the Galloway hills. Excellent location for exploring this interesting area. Very pleasant and helpful staff with good facilities and very good food. Member of CAMRA but not a large selection of real ales which is probably a good decision as it will not have a big turnover of beer particularly... More

Have just had a week in Curleywee Cottage which is part of the House o Hill set up being four or five paces from the main hotel/bar/restaurant. I don't need to add too much more to all the other reviews of this little gem. Trust the reports it really is a wonderful place. Warmest of welcomes, great service, outstanding food,... More

First night back in the Scottish mainland after a long overnight ferry from Orkney to Aberdeen and 6 days under canvas, we'd had a 200+ mile trip down through some wonderful scenery and superb biking roads but were really glad to use the lovely modern shower and have a 2 hour afternoon nap in the super-king sized bed to catch... We booked a table for a meal, we'd been before so looked forward to it. We weren't disappointed at all. We were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our table. Our drinks arrived quickly and our order was taken. Another great meal served. I went for the chicken pie and new potatoes, it was absolutely packed with chicken... More

House o' the Hill saved our lives when we had foolishly booked a really grotty holiday cottage next door but one to it. We spent a lot of time in there, and it more than made up for the discomfort of the cottage. The food in the pub is excellent, we ate there 4 times! and didn't have one bad... More

Visited on a Wednesday night with two kids. Dinner starts at 5.30. You would expect it to be quiet but it was really busy which is a good sign. Staff really friendly and food excellent. They also had a fire on which was lovely & toasty. Very child friendly will be back.

Really enjoyed out 4 day mountain biking visit to stay in Curleywee cottage ajoining and run by the House O'Hill Hotel. All the staff were delightful, they looked after us and our bikes as well as doing our laundry for us!

We have just stayed at House O'Hill for 3 nights. All I can say is we wish we had booked for longer, and we will definitely return. The room was very comfortable, our needs were well provided for, and the bed was heaven! The bathroom was lovely, with a fab shower! The location of the Inn was perfect for us,... More

My son and I stayed overnight on Sunday June 1st, on the way up North - we were in the cottage alongside the hotel, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Dinner was OK (loads of it)and the real ale was delicious. As we had to leave fairly quickly in the morning to get to a ferry, Nicola even came in an... More
