Hotel dated but clean and comfortable. All staff were friendly and welcoming. Steak and Ale pie was gorgeous and lovely breakfast. Stayed over night to break up journey to Cairnryan. Would definetely stay again.

Stayed her for one night with husband and 5 year old daughter en route to Stranraer. Warm welcome by young girl on reception and we were shown to our room, room 8. The decor was dated but very clean. The was a double bed and a single bed in a small side room which was ideal for our daughter. We... More

Whilst visiting Newton Stewart from South Yorkshire, we came across The Crown Hotel and would certainly return after the welcome we received and the excellent food that was served. The Chef prepares the food fresh using local quality produce and obviously takes pride in his work as the presentation was first class. The portions were generous and those that could... More

Stayed at thee Crown Hotel for a couple of nights B&B whilst we explored the Dumfries and Galloway Forest area. Hotel staff were friendly and the accommodation was OK and clean. Nice roomy bathroom/shower area. Breakfast was well cooked and although we mainly ate out during the day we had an evening dinner on our last night. I had the... More

Never actually stayed at the hotel as we were in a caravan site near by. We were looking for a place to eat & so glad we chose to stop at the Crown Hotel. Great choice on the menu, great service by the staff & great meal. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a meal.

Downstairs restaurant was modern, clean and comfortable. Other reviewers have commented that the rooms were a bit out of date - I could see why they might say this but my room was clean and very adequate with an excellent shower No hesitation to recommend.

I have to say what an amazing experience - the chef obviously takes pride in his work and knows how to cook good homemade food. The curry was out of this world you wouldn`t get any better in India and you could tell it was all made from fresh and not from a packet or jar, the steak pie was... More

We travel a lot and have a lot of overnighters. Without doubt, this was our worst experience in ten years! We arrived late in the afternoon and our room was cold. Nothing improved with the paltry little portable heater provided. Still, we've got our love to keep us warm and once snuggled under the duvet in the comfortable bed we... More

I would like to express my dismay and confusion concerning your review. Having personally dealt with your check out, I was left with the impression that whilst you were unsatisfied with the fire alarm incident the night before, our effort to appease you by compensating your substantial meal bill, resulted in you leaving us on good terms. For your own... More

We stayed here very recently and found the hotel and area ideal for our age group. The food was glorious and attention to detail excellent. Our second time in Scotland But we will certainly be back for some more R & R and to indulge in wonderful food.

I have just spent 3 nights in this hotel with my husband, 4 year old daughter and 5 month old son. The staff were absolutely amazing and could not have been kinder to us. They even supplied us with some toys for our kids to use which were brilliant for keeping them entertained. Our meals were delicious, there was a... More
