I have to say what an amazing experience - the chef obviously takes pride in his work and knows how to cook good homemade food. The curry was out of this world you wouldn`t get any better in India and you could tell it was all made from fresh and not from a packet or jar, the steak pie was... More

We travel a lot and have a lot of overnighters. Without doubt, this was our worst experience in ten years! We arrived late in the afternoon and our room was cold. Nothing improved with the paltry little portable heater provided. Still, we've got our love to keep us warm and once snuggled under the duvet in the comfortable bed we... More

I would like to express my dismay and confusion concerning your review. Having personally dealt with your check out, I was left with the impression that whilst you were unsatisfied with the fire alarm incident the night before, our effort to appease you by compensating your substantial meal bill, resulted in you leaving us on good terms. For your own... More

We stayed here very recently and found the hotel and area ideal for our age group. The food was glorious and attention to detail excellent. Our second time in Scotland But we will certainly be back for some more R & R and to indulge in wonderful food.

I have just spent 3 nights in this hotel with my husband, 4 year old daughter and 5 month old son. The staff were absolutely amazing and could not have been kinder to us. They even supplied us with some toys for our kids to use which were brilliant for keeping them entertained. Our meals were delicious, there was a... More

We where due to stay on 26 th December for one night as we had a ferry crossing booked from Cairnryan the next day. Unfortunately due to very bad weather conditions we were sent a text from the ferry company to say that our crossing would be cancelled. With that we could see no point in travelling 5hours up to... Had lunch here and thought it was excellent. There was plenty of choice ( don't understand previous reviewer saying there wasn't much choice - there was ample). Service was excellent and quality and portions very good. It was extremely reasonably priced too. Would recommend a visit.

I booked here to stay overnight after a function in the town. Hotel was beautiful inside. Extremely clean and well kept. Room 10 was beautiful & large!! My only "criticism" is there was an 18th on in the function room just along from my room which I had no prior warning of. I was out at my own function whilst... More

This is an excellent Family run Hotel with friendly Staff always willing to help The building itself is fairly old and this is reflected in some of the quirkiness, floors creak and there is a tendency for some unevenness. However all is very clean. Access to rooms is by way of stairs, Staff are available to assist, so provided you... More

Friendly staff on reception and all over the hotel. Basic room, tidy and clean, but cold on arrival. However there was a heater in the room to use. Lovely hot shower, limited choice of food on menu, but very nice meal. Good company in bar. Unfortunately, breakfast was not so great, very greasy.

The Crown Hotel is a traditional hostelry with very friendly and helpful staff. My room was very comfortable and cosy, with such essentials as a mirror for makeup by a good light from the bathroom window, and excellent directional reading lights above the bed. All in all v highly recommended.
