Arrived at 1630, we said to the staff member what time do you start serving food? He said "1730 but said as soon as the chef was in he will sort something out for you". The bar staff could not do enough to help us really, from sorting out the wifi, and to helping us resolve my declined card. The... More

Absolute perfection the meats were all cooked to perfection the beef practically melted in your mouth. A great variety of vegetables and fantastic roast potatoes and to top it off homemade stuffing absolutely delicious meal. All 6 of us were very impressed you can tell the chef takes pride in his work and everything is freshly prepared.

Stayed for Sunday lunch on our way back down south. Wonderful carvery! All the meats were cooked perfectly and the vegetarian option, caramelized onion and goats cheese tart, was amazing! Even our fussy kids wanted seconds which never happens. Lovely cosy atmosphere and excellent value, I think it was around £8 for the adult carvery - not worth staying at... More

All of the good points about this hotel have been totally overridden by it being turned into a nightclub on a Friday and Sat night ! Hotel says it sent an email out about the music but we did not receive ANY email. staff were unsimpatetic when we asked for a refund, quoting the email , 'yep of course we... More

We arrived at 1330 for the Carvery and initially had the place to ourselves! This was due to half term and not due to problems. Friendly, helpful staff. The food was great. Choice of chicken pork and beef. Roast and mashed potatoes. Carrots, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, sausage, stuffing and irks hire pudding. Ate so much we couldn't manage a sweet.... More

Weekend trip, just had b&b here, which was adequate. The hotel is clean and functional, but that's it. Hardly a soul to be seen, very quiet yet supposedly fully booked. Quaint room decor as well, and watch out for the floors, which are very uneven in places. Staff reasonably pleasant, except one who checked us in. As the public interface... More

myself and 5 others enjoyed an evening here just over a week ago to celebrate the anniversary of two of our party. We all had different meals, including starters and puddings and all were of a high standard and great value. Portions were of a decent size and everything was cooked perfectly, and the desserts were to die for (the... More

On holiday in newton stewart, dumfries and galloway and were looking for a place to eat that was pet friendly, we came across a nice hotel and restaurant the Crown Hotel. Our waitress Rebecca was very pleasant and so helpful and the food was very good, would definitely recommend it whether you have a dog or not.

We had a lovely lunch here. Roast beef was excellent and along with huge variety of veg and side dishes was really good value at £8.95 for main course. Home made chocolate brownies with chocolate sauce were gorgeous and really nicely presented. Staff were all helpful and pleasant. Will definitely be back.

We stopped here one Sunday for tea. The waiter didnt appear over competent and the food was average. My 7 year old asked for a diet coke (order taken at the table), and was brought A PINT!!! Seriously???? We kept having to ask the waiter for cutlery, napkins, sauces- just little things that should have been picked up on (and... More
