This is the second time I have stayed with a group of friends on a shooting weekend. The hotel is excellent for making your stay a relaxing experience. Nothing was too much trouble, from storing our equipment, to arranging packed lunches and at the same time accomodating the special dietery needs of a friend. The entire hotel is traditional with roaring... Beautifully located right on the iconic River Tweed , an interesting house in a stramash (look it up ! ) Of styles from Jacobean French through Scottish baronial to Deco , on the edge of a clattering cobbled square. Unusual. Service is the product of fastidious management and shines throughout. Food quality is as you would expect from its location... More

We decided to have a one night break I'm the Borders and we were able to book a double room at short notice. Since the seventies I have known the Ednam House as a wonderfully atmospheric sporting hotel although I have never managed a night stay. Imagine my surprise when I found the hotel to be just like it was... More

We have been here three time for lunch and it is still a popular location. Lunches are served in the bar area with a relaxed rustic charm and views out over the river. The food is fairly simple but a good selection and freshly cooked; they also do a "half portion" for about 20% less when you are not so... More

We have visited Ednam House for many years but we are newish to Trip Advisor. When I stumbled across the reviews I was amazed to find critical ones, criticising the very things I love about this place. It is so refreshing to find somewhere that avoids the homogenous plastic approach that one so often finds now in chain hotels with... More

The Scottish Borders is one of the prettiest areas in the U.K. Kelso is one of the prettiest towns in that area, and the Ednam House Hotel has for a long time been synonymous with Kelso. I was brought up in the town, but I had reached middle age and had moved away long since before I actually went into... More

Dear Forres33 Thank you for your positive feedback. I would agree with you that we are not a luxurious hotel despite the Georgian Grandeur of some of the interiors of Ednam House and I am much more comfortable with your description of homely. I also believe your description of the food as “good honest, well prepared and tasty food, most... More

Ednam house was recommended by a friend. We couldn't make an overnight stop in Kelso so just popped in for lunch. This lovely hotel is conveniently situated in the heart of Kelso and enjoys fabulous views from the rear overlooking the gardens and the river. Lunch is served in the bar or on the terrace. The food was very, very... More

We stayed for the first time this weekend and I can't wait to go back, not only is the hotel beautiful but the staff are friendly and so very helpful. When we first visited The Ednam with friends last year we were initially dismayed and may have agreed with some negative comments. However, we soon settled in and began to appreciate our surroundings. Decor and furnishings are in character with the period and the lounge/reception areas are magnificent. The bedrooms are clean and well appointed. Staff are friendly and obliging... More
