Super old house showing signs of age. Bedrooms adequate with nice large towels and bath robes. Plenty of hot water, very efficient shower and easy radiator controls. Lots of stairs to bedroom and to restaurant a real problem for people with mobility issues. The steak at dinner was small, tough and full of gristle, chips where soggy and over cooked... More

I bought a deal voucher for DBB for me and my hubby and a couple of our friends. We asked for an upgrade due to the fact that we were taking our dogs with us. We were offered the cottage which has a private lounge and 2 on suite double rooms upstairs. We had to walk from bar through the... More

We have eaten at Ednam House, both in the bar and restaurant, quite a few times in recent years and always enjoyed the service and the food. Unfortunately this was not the case on our last visit. The service was appalling. It took just under an hour to bring the food which when it arrived was cold and in part only... More

An enjoyable stay, in a character building, made for a relaxing time. Whether you sat beside a log fire or tried your hand at two jigsaws set up in the lounges it took you back to the world which we have forgot. No T.V. except in your room, no constant music to break the silence so conversation became the norm... More

This hotel exudes the charm of times long gone. What seemed stately in the lobby and most of the other public rooms became somewhat run down in our booked rooms. It reminded me of sleeping over at great grandma's. There also people were sleeping in the same bed for 100 years with cobwebs in the windows. Didn't like it as... More

Stayed with friends for 2 nights at this hotel. Superb position on the banks of the (flooded) Tweed. Decor a bit tired but wonderful period features of this historic building more than compensated. We intended to have dinner on our first night only, but enjoyed it so much we ate in the hotel on our second night. Rooms were old... More

If you want a corporate, plastic, characterless hotel, then this most definitely is not for you. If you want a hotel that oozes history, charm, comfort and staff that cannot do enough to please, then Ednam House Hotel fits the bill perfectly. We break our journey here travelling to and from the Highlands, and from the moment you enter the... More

We managed to get a last minute deal - loved the accommodation and the evening meal and no complaints about anything. Those that moan about the place being tired miss the point about this fabulous fishing hotel. We are yet to have breakfast in the morning, however I expect it will be top notch

Stayed at the Ednam House Hotel in Kelso for just one night but wish it had been for longer. Beautiful hotel in a lovely setting on the bank of the River Tweed. We had a room upgrade due to some heating problems at the hotel and they room we had was perfect with a view of the grounds and river... More

When we arrived we found half the hotel in darkness with candles everywhere, including our room. We dumped our bags and headed for the candlelit bar, only to find that without power this didn't really happen, but the log fire cheered everyone up and within the hour the power had been restored along with our spirits. Our room turned out... More
