Firstly this is a lovely hotel with a truly amazing view. It was a very cold day so the big fires were very welcome. The hotel is being refurbished but keeping the charm of the old building while upgrading bedrooms. Our bedroom was a lovely big room looking over the river but v draughty as was the bathroom (hope they... More

Great old gaff in the centre of Kelso. The traditional fish tale/tail telling establishment for the last two centuries. Old and creaky, just what you need after a few months in your 'clean lines' home without a break. Decent staff: real people who may make the occasional mistake but it's all good. Big rooms, lovely and warm. Great for families... More

On a recent stay at Ednam House I experienced a mixture of good and extremely bad. The good first. Lots of private parking, front and rear elevations very pretty with river views overlooking the Junction pool for the fishermen. Open log fires throughout, all recently refurbished public rooms very comfortable and in keeping with the age of the hotel. Breakfast... More

were staying at Drybrugh Abbey Hotel the night before and wanted to find somewhere equally nice locally. Definitely found it here at Ednam. The building is nothing short of stunning - we loved (so did our dog) relaxing infront of the roaring fire with a brandy after a lovely meal (in the bar - because of the dog - but... More

Overnight stay with 3 course evening meal and breakfast. The house/hotel was built in 1761 & still retains most of the original features which are absolutely lovely to see. There are upgrades starting but I'm sure the owners will be sympathetic to the original features. The hotel sits right on the banks of the Tweed and the views are fantastic.... More

First the races, lovely course, brilliant viewing from the top of the grandstand and two winners to boot!!!Now for Ednam.... well if you want a plastic hotel with no character but all the mod cons... A Christmas present from Judy, this night away came up trumps. A lovely room overlooking the courtyard, with comfortable bed, spacious wardrobe, swagged curtains, dressing table, marble fireplace.... The hotel itself beautifully situated on the Tweed and in the town too. Pre-dinner drinks in the bar, with log fire roaring. Dinner was simple but exceptionally good - smoked salmon, fillet... More

My wife and I (and our dog) stayed here for a nice weekend break in the Borders. Excellent service and value for money throughout. Particularly pleased that this is a dog-friendly hotel. The back of the building is stunning, looking out onto the river with expansive grounds where we could let our dog run about. Couple of our best times:-... More

A friend and I went for lunch here, when two of our favourite local venues were closed, after New Year. The hotel has new owners and we had high expectations. However the lunch menu was decidedly old fashioned in what it offered, and neither was it particularly appetising or well presented. We were told that there is a major refurbishment... More

The hotel has a stunning location, right on the river- hence its role as a premier fishing location. For those less interested in standing in cold water waving a rod in the air optimistically, the hotel offers a relaxed ambience, good food, friendly staff. Kelso itself is a pleasant Borders market town with a few interesting shops and some lovely... More
