You arrive at this hotel with a hint of "this looks like a lovely place" and in reality it is. The staff are pleasant and the grounds of the hotel (along the river Tweed) are really appealing. That soon does go down hill though once you enter the bedroom. The room I was in was dated, looked well and truly... More

We really loved Ednam House. Although a lovely old house, it does not stand on ceremony but rather offers a homely, relaxed and friendly stay. The staff are utterly charming and couldn't make you feel more welcome. The common areas are grand but still homely and the rooms spotlessly clean and make for a comfortable stay. As for the location,... More

What a quirky old place! Ednam House is a lovely Georgian mansion, decaying gently now but full of signs of former grandeur - and generations of partial renovations. Our room was spacious, with a serene river view and a large, windowed bathroom. . To give an idea of the archaeological feel of Ednam House: room itself Georgian, windows and shutters... More

We stayed here for three days over the easter weekend. At first we were allocated room 7,a nice old fashioned room at the front of the house however it is situated directly above the fire in the lobby and had a rather strong smell of smoke when we mentioned this to the staff they were aware of this problem and moved... Reading the reviews you wouldnt necessarily stay here but the staff are amazing and make this charming but yes dated hotel still worth a visit. On arrival the reception is beautiful the receptionist couldnt have been more welcoming after a long drive. We had booked dinner and were shown where we would be eating this room overlooking the river is... More

Big old hotel at a very picturesque location on the banks of the River Tweed in the town of Kelso. Dinner and breakfast were very good with pleasant and friendly staff. Our room although a comfortable bed was badly in need of an upgrade with tired and shabby mismatched furniture. Although I believe some of the rooms have been refurbished... More

Stayed in this hotel last nite, when we first went in it looked pleasent, lady at reception showed us around then the pleasantry stopped, went to the bar for a drink the person serving couldnt be bothered to serve us, went out for the day and came back at nite for our meal, food was nice but again the staff... On a recent stay at Ednam House I experienced a mixture of good and extremely bad. The good first. Lots of private parking, front and rear elevations very pretty with river views overlooking the Junction pool for the fishermen. Open log fires throughout, all recently refurbished public rooms very comfortable and in keeping with the age of the hotel. Breakfast... More

Firstly this is a lovely hotel with a truly amazing view. It was a very cold day so the big fires were very welcome. The hotel is being refurbished but keeping the charm of the old building while upgrading bedrooms. Our bedroom was a lovely big room looking over the river but v draughty as was the bathroom (hope they... More

Great old gaff in the centre of Kelso. The traditional fish tale/tail telling establishment for the last two centuries. Old and creaky, just what you need after a few months in your 'clean lines' home without a break. Decent staff: real people who may make the occasional mistake but it's all good. Big rooms, lovely and warm. Great for families... More
