This place is full of ye olde world charm (but it's genuine, not the fakery that you find in other places). It's quirky and honest. The rooms - especially in the main house - are full of character, and the food really is excellent. On a summer evening there can be few things better than sitting in the dining room... more

We spent a weekend in February at this hotel after it was recommended by a friend. This hotel is a gem and we were very glad we stayed here. The hotel is located by the river right in the "city" centre. Our room was very large and all we would have expected from a hotel such as this. The hotel... more

Stayed here as part of a wedding party. £130 pn per double room and £80 pn per single room would normally say "quality". Not here. Very tired old fashioned rooms with undoubtedly the worst breakfast I have ever experienced in the UK. Near-raw poached eggs and cremated black pudding for both of us. You can imagine how digusted I was... more

Stayed four nights in one of the principal rooms overlooking the gardens and the River Tweed, worth paying the extra for this fine view. The furnishings were traditional throughout the hotel and very charming and our room had all the comforts we required, hospitality tray etc. The restaurant meals were excellent though we did have a little problem ordering on... more

We have just come home after a lovely few days in Kelso. We were lucky with the weather and had a most relaxing time in the evening enjoying a drink in the superb garden of the hotel, watching the river go by. As we had booked shortly before our visit, we were allocated a room on the second floor; we... more

The hotel does need some updating but the character is all part of it. The problem we had was the terrible service in the restaurant on our first evening. I have never had such poor service anywhere. We arrived in the restaurant at 8pm and half an hour later we had to ask someone to take our order. We had... more

My husband and I decided to stop at the Ednam House hotel as a valentines break. When we arrived the staff were very friendly and our room was spotlessly clean. The hotel retains a certain sense of character and indeed you will find several items of antique furniture about the place. However if you prefer a modern feel then this... more

I thought I would write a review following my wedding in November. The accommodation was lovely and very comfortable. I love the individuality of each room. The Orangerie was particularly fantastic and a lovely place to relax with my girlfriends and close family before the wedding. It has beautiful views of the river tweed and the church I got married... more

Have just returned from a wonderful weekend in this hotel which exceeded my expectations! As we were travelling with another couple, we splashed out and stayed in the Orangerie - a lovely building in the grounds of the hotel. We had our own, huge, private lounge downstairs, and 2 en suite canopy bedded bedrooms upstairs. The standard of decor in... more
