Stayed two nights here with breakfast and dinner as part of a country walking weekend with a friend. Our dog friendly room was v clean, contemporary and comfortable, with a lovely ensuite shower room. Tea/ coffee tray well stocked, tv fine and good bed linens. Our dogs were welcomed in the very cosy pub, where a table was thoughtfully reserved... More

Wonderful two night stay in Plum Cottage. Great location and could go on hikes from the front foot. Really appreciated the walking maps provided. Lovely bedrooms, which were newly furnished (middle bedroom's mattress is maybe in need of replacement though), loved the log burning fire and great to have a kitchen (but would have benefitted from dishcloth, tea towel, sharp... The cottage was comfortable but dated with inadequate facilities. The dishwasher had a broken top tray, the washing machine did not spin and the cooker was faulty. There were no homely or practical provisions such as a mop to clean the floor as a result of muddy boots and puppy. The electrics were worrying and smoke alarms broken. Expected to... More

We spent a night at the compasses. The room was so sweet with an ajoining bathroom. It was immaculate and had everything we needed. It was a real treat to stay in such an old pub, it had so much charm and athmosphere. The food was fantastic, we had a three course meal, with wine and drinks either side of... More

We had a wonderful evening with tasty food and good drinks and some bears. Like the origin atmosphere very much. surrounded from Beautifully countryside around. Nice location for having a perfect trip at the countryside (we have been fly fishing) and get some tasty meal after ;-)

we had dinner here last night, its a great pub we know very well and usually food has been good. last night however after ordering main and dessert both orders had to be changed which is ok as popular choices run out. however the alternative- duck with pak choi, noodles and plum sauce followed by apple tarte tatin didn't live... What a great find "The compasses Inn" turned out to be. We chose this B&B for a 2 day break in Wiltshire. Be warned, it's not the easiest place in the world to find and the narrow roads leading to it are not for the faint hearted, but when you do arrive, you quickly realise it's worth it. The accommodation... More

This location was the second in a walking tour of SW England provided by Foot Trails. As mentioned in a couple of other reviews of our inns, this is primarily a pub with some room accommodations and suited us perfectly. The rooms were small and offered limited amenities which was expected considering the age of the building, hamlet and remote... More

I visited on a Sunday for the roast service. Our main courses were absolutely brilliant, my beef was nice and pink in the middle and there was plenty of meat, veg and potato. But the service was my main bug bear. We had to ask to order, and then when our desserts arrived we hadn't been given cutlery after waiting... More

We found this pub accidently by following a sign from the A30 and what a find! It was a traditional old English pub. It had a friendly welcome, a fire burning and a great menu. The food was very well cooked, interesting and there was a lot of choice. The children's menu had fewer choices, our son enjoyed his pasta... More
