Elaine Sexton and husband, Paul, have run The Old Rectory as a B&B for ten years, but it is Elaine's childhood home because her parents bought the rectory from the outgoing clergyman 50 years ago. Consequently, the Old Rectory has a comfortable, lived-in atmosphere of a family home where you feel more like a welcome visitor than a paying guest.... More

Our stay at The Old Rectory was wonderful! The B&B is located a short walk up a path from the small, charming town of Lacock. I had an English breakfast of tea, toast, beans, mushrooms and egg (I think I had a sausage too? I don't recall, but I remember there were options that you could pick from. It was... More

On the plus side the Old Rectory & it's grounds are beautiful.... even though they have both been effected by the recent storms. Our room was pleasantly decorated & the staff/owners were very friendly. Unfortunately we missed breakfast due to the alarm clock in our room being set at an hour late! Our room was far too hot (our fault... More

We have always wanted to visit Lacock and we were glad to find the Old Rectory! What a great central location, fabulous hosts and a wonderful breakfast, after reading some of the reviews on this site I really do wonder if the reviewers stayed in the same place? We will be back!

Our stay at The Old Rectory was a strange experience, but the location of the B&B definitely made up for it. We were away on a business trip for two nights - I would have been a little disappointed if I had been away on holiday. Coming from the borders of London/Surrey, it did seem like very good value. The... More

I make a lot of business trips to the west country and this is one of the best places for the money in the bath area, very friendly owners - outstanding grounds with history all around it including the filming of part of harry potter at the local 2 mins walk, lovely cottages available if you don't want to stay... I stayed here as it was convenient for a business trip after seeing it on the farmstay website. When I arrived I'm Lacock I found it difficult to find it as signs for weren't lit up very well. I managed to park at the side of the B&B and was greeted by Elaine, I noticed a very strong smell of... More

Beautiful old house; the room was clean and comfortable with character, overlooking the garden. The breakfast was great. The ancient village of Lacock was a short walk away with a few pubs to choose from. Parking on the property. An excellent base for exploration of a wide range of historical sites in the area.

We arrived when it was dark and there was no light outside the Old Rectory, so it was quite difficult to find the entrance to the building. We approached the first door that we could see. The welcome from the owner was to be told that we had used the wrong door. The owner then told us that breakfast is... More
