We celebrated our 50th Anniversary here on a 2 night stay, hotel quirky full of antiques very comfortable, all the staff helpful and friendly especially Monica who greeted us with a very warm welcome. Food good and our room 1A had beautiful harbour views, was large and comfortable, bathroom small and needs updating, hot water took ages to come through.... More

So many hotels claim to welcome you like a friend – Miller's really does. Wonderfully informal yet efficiently run, this is a place where we felt immediately at home. Its staff could hardly have done more to make us comfortable. The seashore setting is endlessly fascinating, whether the sun is shining or (as we have experienced before) the waves are... More

Just returned from a 2 night break at Millers at Anchor. The location is simply superb, with views out over the Harbour. Our room was also a gem, again looking over the harbour, with Four Poster Bed. What marks this hotel out from the crowd is 3 things: The Individuality - the whole hotel is crammed full of curios, books... More

I was looked after so well on Sunday night at Millers at Porlock Weir. I went with my sister for a one night stay and left monday morning feeling like I'd been away for a few days. The service was excellent, the room was perfect and dinner in their restaurant was just super. I'm planning another trip right now. Thank... More

Had a long weekend in early July. The location is fantastic as was the view fom our bedroom (room 5). The staff are really friendly and there is a great atmosphere. The real ale festival was on next door which was an added bonus. The breakfasts were very good. We had an evening meal on our first night which although... More

Park the car and walk through the door to be welcomed by an atmosphere so unique in a hotel. Perhaps there is a wait for a receptionist but does that matter ? There is so much to take in Time stands still and with the views of the harbour relaxation is on the menu. Staff friendly and attentive. Rooms spacious... More

I cannot rate Millers at the Anchor highly enough. A truly unique gem of a place that I was so sad to leave. Monica on reception gave us such a warm welcome and throughout our stay the staff were highly attentive always on hand if we needed anything. The view from the harbour view rooms are simply stunning and now... More

Not the sort of place we usually stay, but it was very enjoyable nonetheless. We only booked 2 days previously so not much room choice available but we had room 14 which was newly decorated, the bathroom was poor but as it was for only 1 night we didn't mind too much. Our son had room 10, which is dog... More

We have stayed in many hotels over the years but this one ranks very highly. If you want uniformity and must have internet and mobile phone access then please stay away because the Millers at the Anchor is going to drive you insane. It is Quirky (note the capital Q for exceptionally) and a complete delight as it assaults the... More

Once again Secret Escapes has delivered an 'unusual' hotel in a beautiful location. This Hotel is one of the Millers group - stuffed to the gunnels with antiques at every turn including the bedroom.Whilst the decor is a little jaded it is in keeping with the overall style. The staff were lovely, the harbour view from the bedroom spectacular and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For over 200 years the Anchor has served Porlock Weir's 15th-century harbor for sailors, walkers and huntsmen alike. Where Exmoor meets the sea, Porlock Weir is an idyllic working harbor with stunning coastal views. Martin Miller together with his daughter Tanya have created a hunting lodge by the sea. This 14-bedroom hotel is crammed with Martin's antiques and curiosities. The Anchor has all the hallmarks of his unique style. Roaring log fires, candlelit sensuality, books by the thousand and bowls of fruit and sweets, all washed down with a Millers award winning Gin and tonic. ... more   less
