Stayed earlier this year with an extended family group. Pros Great position above the town and perfect if it is walking you are after. Plenty of public space Choice of basic and premium rooms Staff friendly Clean Food quite good for what it was Cons Steep hill up to it While clean and freshened up it is cosmetic only and... More

We stayed for one night the room was fresh and clean!! yes the shower cubicle was very small as stated in other reviews, but as long as you did not drop the soap it was ok. The Bar area and Dining rooms were lovely and clean with good decor. The staff were really friendly, breakfast was really nice, but evening... More

Room on first floor overlooking hotel entrance so no views. Usual hf standard of room furnishing, lack of mirrors a particular irritation. Ensuite shower cubicle tiny, cannot bend down to pick up dropped soap without opening the door. Smallest cubicle I have ever used. Friendly staff are trying their best but are let down by poor management. Evening meals are... More

Adequate for a short stay of a night or two. Comfortable lounge and bar area. Dining room well-lit by natural light, also with broad views. Bathrooms redone and sparkling, but too small, especially tiny shower cubicle. Mattresses too springy. Not comfortable. Have had better accommodation at other HF properties. Pretty town of Church Stretton is a short walk down the... More

A new addition to the H.F. group and in a stunning location. Room comfortable with views across the valley. Food good and pleasant staff. Did not join the walking groups on this occasion but enjoyed the freedom to explore the local area and the evening entertainment.

Stayed the night before starting a three day, 60 mile walk from Church Stretton to Ludlow. The hotel has wonderful views, Kestral our room on the third floor overlooked the lovely rolling hills of this area. Our evening meal was well cooked and well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful though clearly multi tasking between the reception, bar and... More

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel as part of a group of 36 walkers. The hotel is perfectly situated in beautiful surroundings and it is possible to walk out of the grounds and onto the Longmynd without need of transport. Everywhere was clean, comfortable and spacious with all the facilities we needed. The food... More

We spent six nights here as part of a group - I would not recommend others to go as the group will swamp couples and singles! The hotel staff are poorly trained but do their best. We pre-ordered our evening meals but even so on a couple of occasions they had "run out" of our choice. The food varied from... More

The hotel is set in lovely surroundings and ideal for walkers. If you have low expectations and have a fondness for the 70's then you're in for a treat. Service staff are polite, but was annoyed to be told I Must dine before 7.15 as they had a large group in or I wouldn't get fed. Service staff were poorly... More
