After 30 years of enjoying the Longmynd from the Longmynd Hotel, walking with our dog we find out the hard way that the hotel is no longer dog friendly despite what it says on their website and that of other booking agencies so beware if that is what you had in mind.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at The Longmynd. Our apologies that the HF Holidays' Dog Friendly policy was not made clearer to you to save this confusion. HF Holidays is currently trialing welcoming dogs at selected Country Houses in specially selected rooms that have outside access. We hope that we can welcome you, and your... More

Checked in monday evening, checked out 5 minutes later, the room seemed clean, but for a double of £104 a night over looking the car park. The room that was out dated in the seventies and the only change since them is they put a TV in. The two staff we seen were'nt very helpful, so we checked out never... More

We had a very good value for money, clean, comfortable room on the third floor with lovely views albeit with no shower. The restaurant was pretty average and because the hotel focuses on walking holidays and large groups, B&B customers were sat in an atmosphere free area just outside the restaurant. For the same reason we were sat at a... More

I live locally and would love to be able to have my visiting friends & family to stay in Church Stretton, but they can NEVER book a room here! The reservation phone staff are absent and/or rude and the hotel is ALWAYS fully booked-whatever the season whatever the month-every room fully booked at all times? really? I won't bother again.

We stayed for one night the room was fresh and clean!! yes the shower cubicle was very small as stated in other reviews, but as long as you did not drop the soap it was ok. The Bar area and Dining rooms were lovely and clean with good decor. The staff were really friendly, breakfast was really nice, but evening... More

Room on first floor overlooking hotel entrance so no views. Usual hf standard of room furnishing, lack of mirrors a particular irritation. Ensuite shower cubicle tiny, cannot bend down to pick up dropped soap without opening the door. Smallest cubicle I have ever used. Friendly staff are trying their best but are let down by poor management. Evening meals are... More

Adequate for a short stay of a night or two. Comfortable lounge and bar area. Dining room well-lit by natural light, also with broad views. Bathrooms redone and sparkling, but too small, especially tiny shower cubicle. Mattresses too springy. Not comfortable. Have had better accommodation at other HF properties. Pretty town of Church Stretton is a short walk down the... More

A new addition to the H.F. group and in a stunning location. Room comfortable with views across the valley. Food good and pleasant staff. Did not join the walking groups on this occasion but enjoyed the freedom to explore the local area and the evening entertainment.

Stayed the night before starting a three day, 60 mile walk from Church Stretton to Ludlow. The hotel has wonderful views, Kestral our room on the third floor overlooked the lovely rolling hills of this area. Our evening meal was well cooked and well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful though clearly multi tasking between the reception, bar and... More

The Longmynd dates from the early 1900s and originally attracted Edwardian visitors to the 'Little Switzerland' of Church Stretton. With a magnificent hill-top location, there are panoramic views of the surrounding hills from the dining room and our lounges. Today the Longmynd has been extensively modernised to suit the needs of visitors. We offer spacious bedrooms, fabulous food and spacious lounges to relax in.
