We called in here on our way back from South Wales today and found it a welcome break in our journey. We cannot comment on the rooms as we just used the restaurant but found it to be clean and the staff very welcoming. They even made up a cheeseboard for us when we asked which was not on the menu. The price... Service was excellent. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Room was basic but very clean and comfy with nice little extras. Very child friendly and prices were fair. Breakfast was very nice. Staff were so good that they went out of their way to make porridge for our child.

We stayed here for one night and could not fault anything at all. On arrival we were met with a smile, always says a lot to me. They gave us a family room with a double and single bed even though there was just two of us. I rate a lot of places I stay on their cleanliness and to... More

The Affcot Lodge staff are wonderful and couldn't be friendlier. Nothing is too much trouble and they were all very welcoming. Breakfasts were good and we were offered more if we wanted seconds for a full cooked breakfast! The hotel is a pub too and our friends who live locally say the meals there are very good although we didn't... More

We knew this pub as the "Traveler's Rest" from our many visits to the Shropshire area. We showed up for lunch one day and found the name had changed. Not only the name had changed but we were pleasantly surprised that the menu had many new things added and the atmosphere was friendly and pleasant. We ordered our meals and... More

An on-the-day booking and the staff both on the phone and in person could not have been anymore helpful or polite. I paid £50 for a room and was given sandwiches, crisps and water for lunch the next day as I would miss breakfast as leaving early. I could hear the person I'm the room above but let's be realistic-... More

Location is certainly excellent for visiting rural Shropshire - it's right on the A49 just south of Church Stretton - and at £70 ensuite for two, including breakfast, it compares favourably with the more anodyne choices offered by the budget hotel groups. The public areas are a step-back-in-time experience for the older traveller as they seem like something out of... More

Comfortable accommodation, friendly and helpful staff and good food. Only slight downside are rather creaky floors in the bedrooms, but we still had good nights sleep on both occasions we've stayed here.

Stayed at Affcot Lodge as we were going to have dinner at the fabulous The White House across the road and did not want to drive home. The rooms were great and had everything we needed. The staff were what made this Lodge as they were welcoming and so cheerful. Would definitely stay here again when we go for dinner... More

I booked rooms at Affcot Lodge in Oct - Nov 2013 and January 2014 for my team who were working nearby in Church Stretton. I have had nothing but positive feedback from my colleagues about the accommodation, food and hospitality provided and would highly recommend this hotel. Wendy and the Affcot Lodge staff are a truly fantastic group of people... More
