Got this place out of the good pub guide. Looking for a place to take the dog too. Found the place to be very welcoming and we were soon sorted with a great room and a bed for the dog. Excellent beer available from the Isle of Skye brewery specifically for the Old Inn and food was reasonably priced and... more

The Old Inn is ideally situated for the town of Gairloch. It is full of great potential, given the right owner/management team. Unfortunately it appears to be run on a shoestring. Apart from one very polite and efficient Scottish waitress, the other restaraunt/breakfast/admin staff all appeared to be "foreign" imports and had a relatively poor knowledge of the local area,... more

We stayed at The Old Inn the 1st and 2nd of October after a tour of the Outer Hebrides. The Old Inn was a pleasant respite from the drive down from Ullapool and we were given two very comfortable rooms with very good bathrooms. My room had a view out to the hills and also overlooked the Solas Gallery which... more

It looks so nice from outside and basically it's ok but we were disappointed as the staff has been a bit unconcerned and the food was not too good. The have a whisky list but do not sell the whiskeys in the bar and so on. Maybe the had a bad day overall...but the price is too high for what... more

We stayed in the Old Inn for 3 nights from 25th to 28th of September. It was our third stay there, having fallen in love with the place on our honeymoon in April 03. We were very happy with our room, just done up with a cosy seating area and a four poster bed. We don't agree with reviews about... more

We were staying in Gairloch for a wedding anniversary celebration getaway, and on checking the hotel websites, the Old Inns' sample menu looked just right for us, as we are seafood lovers, so booked for dinner on the Saturday evening. Imagine our great disappointment when the menu we were given on arrival, bared no resemblance to the sample on the... more

Disappointing, after reading about it in The Times I was hoping for a better standard. Reception service was slow and unfriendly The bedroom was dated and a bit musty smelling, though it was spacious. It was in a quiet location The evening meal in the restaurant was excellent! more

A friend and I called in to the Old Inn enquiring about the possibility of a cup of tea or coffee, and would probably have also ordered breakfast. However, we were summarily turned away on the grounds that Inn was too busy serving guests, even though restaurant was virtually empty. Staff were unfriendly and most unwelcoming. Will certainly not be... more

The rooms were very grubby and the whole feeling was of total neglect. The windows hadnt been cleaned inside or out for , i might suggest years . A bad choice for us and definatly poor value for money. Needs a complete refurbish. more

We stayed at the Old Inn on a weeknight during a driving tour of the stunning Scottish highlands. Gairloch is a pretty small fishing town and most of the people staying there seemed to be outdoorsy types hiking types. By contrast, we found the local fish and chip shop sold excellent deep fried Mars Bars (something of a Scottish speciality)!... more
