We stayed there because it has been recommended by a friend. We found room 2 very comfortable and beautifully furnished. It was warm and very clean. The high quality ensuite bath and shower were great to come back to after a day in the winter weather. The bar was cosy with real fires, smiling and friendly staff and locals and... More

We stayed here for a weekend break with friends. Most of the rooms have been redecorates and updates to an exceptional quality and we could actually believe the price. The Inn is in central Alnmouth and only 5 mins walk from the beach with good walks and views. If you visit in winter, the wind off the coast is cold... More

I have visited this pub previously for food so we decided to book two nights (18/19.12.15) for our stay. My Mrs got us the family room which could sleep 5 so as there was just the two of us we had loads of room (this would be great for a family with a couple of kids as there's a seperate... More

Second visit and was not disappointed, met friends for 3 nights. Bedrooms, food, staff, service, real ale and company were excellent. We were in bedrooms 5 and 6 which although in an adjacent building were to a high standard. Location in Alnmouth is central within easy reach of beach for coastal walking (not sunbathing in November!).

As a couple we stayed in the family room, which is on the top floor and overlooks the church (and clock chimes!). The floor has a second room with twin beds and a bathroom with large bath and shower. We were told by staff that they don't book the rooms out separately, which was like having our own suite. The... More

My partner and I booked a weekend at the Red Lion after a friend of ours had stayed there. We were not disappointed. We had room 6 which was absolutely beautiful, cosy and warm. We ate there for the two nights and although it was just pub food the service and quality of the food was excellent. The staff were... More

Nice cosy room and dog friendly so a relaxed feel to the bar area. Nice bottle of wine and beer good. Starters of soup and 7 minute egg good. Main courses vried however. Seabass meal lovely. Wild game pie meal good except for the pastry which wasn't cooked and had the texture of soggy underlay (landlord informed, he said he'd... More

Only stayed here for one night but were made more than welcome. We were shown to our room which was spacious, immaculate, and very tastefully decorated. We had twin beds which were extremely comfortable. We had a drink in the cosy bar which featured a warm open fire and had a delicious meal in the restaurant later that evening. A... More

Stayed here for 1 night in October. We couldn't park in the hotel car park as they were setting up there for a beer festival the next day, so had to park out on the street. The room was fairly small but comfortable but there was no ensuite and the TV didn't work. From the website I hadn't picked up... More

Alnmouth itself is a beautiful place, well worth visiting. We have weekended there several times and stayed at various hotels/pubs. This is by far the best, excellent large rooms and a great pub. Room 2 has a bathroom with large shower and separate bath. The Inn boasts a raised deck with stunning views over the estuary. Staff friendly. Breakfast superb.... More
