A lovely, yet quirky little B&B about 1.5 miles from Staithes. The owners are truly wonderful hosts and provide a warm welcome. The breakfast was really nice, made with quality, fresh local ingredients.

We stopped for tea and cake having walked the coastal path from Staithes. The Ship Inn was absolutely heavenly. We had our tea in the garden, a green oasis gone a little wild (but none the worse for that). Inside, the downstairs tea room is a shabby chic heaven with vintage tablecloths, mis-matched china and all sorts of interesting odds... More

We stopped for a late lunch while walking from Staithes. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly and attentive hosts. The food, which is all home-made, is excellent and great value. Enjoyed a happy hour bur could have stayed all day. Try everything like we did!

I have just enjoyed my second stay at the Ship Inn, which is really a very special place indeed. Port Mulgrave is a row of mainly modern houses leading down to the sea, just past the village of Hinderwell, about ten miles north of Whitby. The Ship Inn is a rather older building, which the owners, Jane and Tom, have... More

We have just enjoyed a wonderful weekend at The Ship, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was lovely, the breakfasts we had were perfect, lots of fresh food and home baked rolls. We enjoyed tea and home made cake in the afternoon in the Tea Room. We hadn't heard of Port Mulgrave before our stay, but are so glad... More

Very welcoming and friendly hosts. We'd hardly stepped in before we were offered tea and homemade cake. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hosts take great pride in sourcing and preparing their food which was absolutely delicious. They had helpful suggestions about our plans for the days we were there which enabled us to have a very relaxing minibreak. We... More

Actually a bit hard to find but well worth it. Our visit was just for tea and cake after a gentle walk up the Cleveland Way - from Staithes. It was rather more like dropping in on friends than a visit to a café. We learned, from our hosts and other guests, about local events which didn't figure in the... More

Stopped mid walk at this wonderful tea shop having trudged through snow and high winds! The hosts even opened early to let us into their warm cafe. What's better than one fire on a cold day - yes 2 fires. The food was all home made and delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. We could have stayed all day.... More

Stayed here while walking the Cleveland Way (well worth walking - so pretty) and were very pleased. It's simply a lovely little B&B and really quaint. Used to be a pub but now decorated like an old farmhouse and the food is excellent. We were greeted after a long day's walking with a cream tea consisting of home-made scones, at... More

How often do you go back somewhere and find that it doesn't quite match your memories and expectations? Well not this time, it was fab! From the lovely food to the comfy bed it was excellent once again. A different room this time as the b&b was full, the owner referred to it as "the private wing" a baby wing... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to our family-run bed and breakfast. We're a small, former village inn in the hamlet of Port Mulgrave - near to Staithes. We have two comfortable, stylish bedrooms, with en-suite shower rooms. We also operate a tea room, for which we bake our own cakes (including our famous cheesecake) and bread. The freshly baked bread is part of the daily breakfast. We serve it with a selection of local produce, mainly organic, and cereals. ... more   less
