Nice friendly greeting upon arrival. The Inn is undergoing a refurbishment (we where aware of this on booking). All this said don't be put off, the room was really nice. Just one or two bits of house keeping in the room due the refurb and It will be complete. We had our evening meal at the inn, and the food... More

Stayed at the Captain Cook for one night after a trip to Middlesbrough, this inn is a real gem, good food and excellent real ale from local Brewers. Staff were all very polite and friendly and kids made very welcome. Would recommend a stay and when the refurb is complete it will be amazing.

I enjoyed the warmth and comfort of this hotel during the Staithes Winterfest weekend when Clare and Heath allowed me and a friend to exhibit our work in their pub. Such a transition from these new owners as the pub is being renovated, has an open fire, good reasonably priced ale, wine and good pub grub. The new owners are... More

Firstly I would say that change here is is good progress in most ways. This pub used to look like a hostel from the outside and now it looks like a hotel. It used to be cold and grubby inside, and now it is smart. It didn't used to sell food and now it does. The new owners have invested... More

Hiya there, thanks for the review on the Captain Cook Inn and thank you for noticing the changes we have made to the property. Its taken time and effort to get to where we are and we can finaly see the finish line, I think! What dismays me is your review of our real ale and your assumption that this... More

We booked this hotel online for 3 nights on the strength of previous Trip Advisor reviews. In the event, we liked it so much that we extended our stay to 4 nights. We were aware from the reviews that there was still some work in progress going on, the local owners having only acquired the property a few months ago.... More

Enjoyed a couple of meals here while on a visit to Staithes in September. The pub itself is not flashy more of a local. Both staff and local customers very friendly. Dogs are welcome so if you object to them and choose to eat in the bar area this may not be the place for you (there is a separate... More

I stayed for 4 nights end September/early October, for the last 2 nights I was the only guest prior to them closing the accommodation side to complete the upgrade..The breakfasts were top class after the first when we established that Black Pudding was not a food source. My room was large with lots of natural light. The inroom "cafe" was... More

We stayed in a newly refurbished room which had been thoughtfully and tastefully decorated. We would like to suggest the following: put a hook on the wall near the shower for towels, leave a bath mat there, add a mirror over the sink and also on the wall in the bedroom. We also felt that the mugs provided for tea... More

We booked in knowing that the pub was undergoing lengthy refurbishment. On arriving the landlady (I think) rang down to the Crab & Lobster to let them know we were on our way (and to keep the kitchen open) which I thought very kind & helpful, as we didnt get there till 830 on a saturday night. The room was... More

We stayed for 1 night beginning of September 2014. It's situated just at the top of the hill and is a 5 min walk into Staithes harbour. The outside of the hotel had just been rendered/painted, and scaffolding was just being taken down. Our rooms were newly renovated and were to a good standard and very clean with great bathrooms....
